i put the mini up on the roof of our van. its been down to baja twice, and it all runs off the rv battery pack. the rv batts get recharged from solar, or the engine if we are driving. the mini has worked for us, doing most all that u describe - plus its not a huge investment, if it does not...

my uncle was a navy pilot, then went the air america route after retirement. ended up flying around alaska in all sorts of planes. ended badly taking off with a load of drilling mud - shit happens fast in those/these environments.

i had one of those yakima rocket boxes that developed some cracks. we used that glue that is sold for black plastic pipe - we put down some of that sheetrock webbing tape, and then brushed the glue on. it cured up very strong. i dont know what the rocket box plastic is ?
