    Non-Fly Centerpin Thread

BC steelheader here. Been using centerpin reels for close to 50 years. They are at their best when used for float fishing. Level wind reels are just as good for float fishing but not as fun to use when fighting a fish. Spinning reels are not very useful for float fishing. Float fishing is a...

Walk and Wade salmon net recommendations

No need whatsoever for a net, bring the fish into 6-18 inches of water, grab leader ( don't let go once you have grabbed the leader ) slip out hook, turn fish back into deeper water, some fish can be gently supported by the wrist of the tail while they recuperate, repeat. Don't remove the fish...

Gear advice: Switch rod for beach fishing?

I see lots of guys beach fishing here on the island with switch rods, I am one of them. I get more distance with less effort and much less wear and tear on my body with my switch rod. My two switch rods are a 5/6 11 foot TCX and an old 8wt 10ft RPL that I converted to a switch rod. The...

    Yellow UV cure

Here is how I fixed my curled bone dry brush. Take the lid off the bone dry and nuke in your microwave for 15 seconds. Screw the lid back on and rotate the bottle in your hand. Repeat the same procedure with another 10-15 second shot in the microwave. Don't overheat your resin. If in doubt...

    Yellow UV cure

I wasted a bunch of money trying a bunch of different products. I have narrowed it down to Solarez bone dry, brushable krazy glue and for coloured resin I have had good luck with Gulff products. At this point I doubt I will ever be enticed to try anything else as these all work exceptionally well.

Prop Change for Minn Kotas (BIG difference)

I have a 36lb thrust motor guide electric. I undid the nut, slid off the old prop, slid on an APC 10x5, tightened up the nut, good to go. My top end speed went from 2.8/2.9 mph to 3.2mph. This equates to about 10% increase in top end speed. My only concern would be how it performs in weeds.

    Indicator Leader Formulas

This is a fantastic description of what a sounder will do for your lake fishing. A good sounder that you know how to use, is the best stillwater fishing investment you can make. Regarding indicator leaders. You are usually fishing within 30 feet of the boat, they don't need to cast like a...

    Intermediate/clear camo lake lines?

I got around the clear intermediate by using a cortland floater with an integrated 15 ft clear sink tip. This gets me past the damn coiling issue and still allows a slow presentation in shallow water with a clear line and flouro tippet of course. https://www.cortlandline.com/products/ghost-tip-15

    Intermediate/clear camo lake lines?

I own 3 clear camo lines, rio, SA and airflo, they all coil and are horrible to fish with. My least favourite lines to fish with.
