I got a 300 grain smooth for beach salmon & rivers but mostly used it at the beach this year on my single hand rod. The tip i used at the beach was 5/5 float sink 4 and a 10 foot intermediate. Casting was good and stripping line much better than a commando head. Still figuring it out on moving...
WDFW found an excuse to get out of sport steelhead. The anti sport fishing orgs were all the state needed to walk away. Just look at what they did this week down south. And of course keeping the Skagit closed this winter with the excuse of no money after the largest tax increase in state History.
just my -2 cents. If you like an OBS head with mono try a Commando head. So easy to roll cast it out there with no need for back cast. Down side might not be best for spooky fish as they are not delicate. Not a fan of mono running lines as I always get fumble fingers.
Just call me lonesome, Rodney Foster. I couldn’t leave you if I tried, Rodney Crowell. My homes in Alabama, Jimmie Johnson & Alabama. Little mountain church, NGDB & Ricky Skaggs. Blue Kentucky girl, Emmylou Harris. Flatt and Scruggs.
Totally get your pain. Big C is tough. Have thought about maybe some slow water areas say down by Chinook where some of those little creeks come in ? Snohomish coho can be the same way. But toss out a jig or troll a plug and your hooked up.
Agree 100% on fish behavior/weird stuff. Though I didn’t get to concentrate much on coho they acted pretty much like last year out in the salt, jumping & blazing by the beaches. Pinks kinda copied them from time to time but then there were days of good bites & a few days of crazy good but mostly...
Naw that’s the rank and file version. NCOs don’t use extra words if they don’t have to. Besides you either listen up once or do push ups for asking a second time.
Well as my NCOs used to say probably almost daily “Opinions are like “a..holes, everyone’s got one”. That said ( I know) to each his own. I like SH & two hand rods. What helped me was getting a trout size switch rod. I could then feel the rod load that I wasn’t getting from my 13 foot rod. Side...
My -2 cents worth. starting with shorter rods I think is easier (switch etc) and using short Skagit heads helped me. Love Commando heads they helped to get the feel for rod load and in tight no room behind ares. Always remember to slow down, hands out in front & bottom hand pull. Good video is...
Well at least they live shipped 14 fish from the south fork to use in the hatchery. Those fish have better consistent return over the years. As well as the coho & pinks up there.
Jabbering on sorry (waves are too strong to fish right now) agree OPST commando smooth is great and small Dick nites can be casted better on SH rods than two handers with more of a chuck kinda cast. Oh and check out some of B.C websites on fishing coho in rivers. They do it as a normal fishery...
