Affordable places you would actually want to live

Always thought Medford was nice and enjoyed visiting relatives there in the 80s and 90s. Had to fly in for a funeral recently, and the town itself was was looking seedier than I can recall it looking/seeming back in the day, but IMO still scores highly when it comes to weather and proximity to...

Affordable places you would actually want to live

1.Amazing that I got all the way through this thread without anyone cracking a joke about asking ChatGPT to generate a list of towns that satisfy your criteria.... 2. Terrace/Smithers B.C.!

A Noob's First Time Chasing Tuna

All-in (gas, lodging, tips, etc) it's normally worked out to ~$850-900 door-to-door for me.

    2025 Tuna and Exotics

Last time I went au naturale with regards to seasick meds was on a whale watching trip in NZ ~20 years ago - only because some sort of ginger lozenge was the only thing I could get my hands on. Long period swells + indoor seat equalled me gritting my teeth and doing the nausea equivalent of...

    2025 Tuna and Exotics

Yes - but way less unpleasant than motion sickness - at least for me. Dry mouth, a bit of bluriness up close, and harder to empty your bladder.

    2025 Tuna and Exotics

Will also note that I'm extremely prone to motion sickness, and one the two trips that I've done so far, I've used a combination of a scopalamine patch that I put on the morning before the trip, and a phenergan (promethazine) chaser the day of the trip (half-tab at 5AM and 11AM) and have managed...

    2025 Tuna and Exotics

Thursday crew had a great day on the water. Too late in the evening to say much more than that but more details may be forthcoming in the next couple of days. FWIW this was the best performing fly for me today.

    2025 Tuna and Exotics

This sounds amazing. Would love more info. Do they charge by the pound? Anyone have any idea how common it is for them to offer same-day processing? More likely on weekdays vs weekends? TIA.

Also available at the Lynnwood Costco. Looks like they've got at least 20 on display.

Open Seat & Guide Sharing Forum?

Now that my kids are getting older I'm getting (slightly) more time to fish, it seems like I'm also finally in a position where I could potentially meet up with other members of the board when/where I can to get out and fish. Of course, it's hard to do that on a message board, particularly...

One-man Pontoon Recommendations for Olympic Peninsula Dec-March

Yes. Absolutely. Best money you'll spend - the only reason I say that with such conviction is that I've done things the hard way and looking back it's obvious that investing in a day of swining flies with a guide - with a special emphasis on reading water - would have dramatically increased my...

One-man Pontoon Recommendations for Olympic Peninsula Dec-March

Not sure if these are on your radar or not, but I've had a very good experience using the NRS GigBob frameless inflatable pontoon boat for one man trips on WA rivers. I've used mine for multi-day self support trips, taken it through rapids up to class III with no issues, and the cataract paddles...

    Starter Two-Handed set up?

FWIW I've been happy with Redington Chromer rods (out of production but available for ~$200 used) and Behemoth reels. YMMV but I think most people will have to do a lot of casting before that rod will be the limiting factor.

    All the Rage...

I'd been too busy packing for my steelhead trip to bother with swapping out the 390 grain head, so I just tucked the heavier head into the wallet and figured I'd swap it out when it was time to grab the 6wt. I was scrolling through all of the helpful advice from this thread as I was stripping...

What's your favorite mono running line & why?

Can't add much in the way of comparison or contrast with other options but I've been pleased with how little it tangles/kinks, and appreciate the added grip.

Tribe Likely to Acquire High Bridge Launch

Frankly makes me thankful for the work that the Western Rivers Conservancy are doing to secure riverfront property and transfer it to Federal control via channels that state governments in the PNW have little or no capacity to influence.

    NFR Truck tires?

Going to piggy-back on this thread and see what people like in terms of snow-tires. Have been running Blizzaks for a while on my Tundra but open to other suggestions.

    NFR Truck tires?

Falken WildPeak AT's offer a good combination of snow, ice, rain, mud traction but I'd only recommend them to people that spend at least a bit of time driving on out of the way roads with rocks etc that need more puncture resistance than you get from your standard all-season tire...
