The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

It was one of three rods I had with me, I didn’t use it a ton. It is 9 ft long and heavy to hold and cast, very top heavy. I have a Japanese made medalist-type reel on it.

The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

I was using it as the point fly in a washing line set up. So yep, it was floating/surface film.

The Stonedfish/Bambooflyguy monthly lake dry fly challenge!

I got one today on a booby. On a bamboo rod at that!

How do you rig 2 flies?

I fished today, caught bunches of fish, missed three times that many because I like to fish two rods. I will put the leech on bottom if I’m fishing any chironomid except a bloodworm, because bloodworms should be on the bottom. I feel like the bottom fly usually catches 90% of the fish because...

Balanced vs Standard Leech Under Indicators

I fish balanced leeches and some unbalanced leeches, but when I have seen leeches swimming in the water it seems that they are usually oriented upwards at about a 45 degree angle, so the jig head leeches make sense to me.

Are you sure that is bamboo? Most bamboo I see is much straighter. That rod there needs a little blue pill 1 hour before fishing.

    Bread Thread

Speaking from experience, the bread always tastes good, despite the over or under proofing. Unless you leave the salt out accidently, then it will taste bad. And it will over proof quicker. My house is around 70 degrees, but I have been putting the dough for bulk fermentation in the oven with...

    The good boat deal thread

So I went to this today, the 8 ft and 12 ft prams are really nice. The 8 footer was only $800, I’m sure it’ll be cheaper tomorrow. The previous owner built these. There is a ton of flies if you need some. I bought a couple bamboo rods that the owner wrapped himself. Unfortunately he didn’t...

Where have you been hiking lately?

You can see claw marks in some of the prints. I thought that ruled out cats

    Bread Thread

I’ve been doing this as well, I tend to alternate between boules and pan bread. I use the same recipe(s). But how do you cut it so nicely? I really suck at making neat slices.

    What's in your (PIZZA) oven?

I made pizza using half my dough, then started a partial kitchen remodel and so the other half of the dough sat in the fridge for a week. It had a very sour smell, not a bad smell, and when I made the pizza I could taste the extra tang. Interestingly, my wife did not notice a difference, even...

    Slip Bobber Leader

My method starts with meticulously planning on how long of a leader I need based on where I'm going, and then tying that all up at home while watching college basketball, or tennis, or whatever. Then when I get to the lake, I find out my leader is too short, and it is such a hassle to cut...

    What's in your (PIZZA) oven?

Tried to make a deep dish or Detroit style pizza in my combo cooker. KA pizza dough recipe, Rao’s sauce, pepperoni and mushrooms, mozzarella. Cooked in gas oven at 500 degrees for 25 minutes, maybe could have used another 4-5 minutes but wife feels anything browned is burnt. Did not par bake...

    What's in your vise?

Showing off my fly tying ADHD from the last couple weeks. I usually can’t sit long enough to tie more than 2 flies each session.

    Float tube pump?

Don't turn on your location data for that app! Outcast sells it to 3rd party fly fishing apps so they know where you're fishing and can alert others. That's why we all know that spot that Shawn was anchored up in the thread about fishing chiros.
