Chum from a canoe? I have had large brook trout (6+ lbs) pull my canoe at a fair pace. Can't imagine what a really strong fish like a Chum would do.

They work great. I have used them for many projects. I would caution on buying from dealers on eBay. There are a lot of Chinese knockoffs. You really want the original product to keep water inside the pipe. I live in NH and have an outside faucet on my deck; the pipe is exposed to very low...

Last gasp. Picked before frost. Some will rot, but many will ripen.

Call the dog to your boat and clip his hair. Labrador fur makes great high floating Caddis flies!

Most big home stores sell wire fence kits. Easy to install with the right parts

Just to follow up. I heard from Sage. They want me to send the rod to them so they can tell me that it is broken and that they no longer repair it. They will then give me a credit of 195 towards an " equivalent" rod. Their new rods are in the $1000 range and not equivalent as they are "fast"...

Thanks to all who tried to assist. The ones for sale on the old site are 2pc. As I travel with my rods I only buy 4pc. I am still waiting for a reply from Sage about an "equivalent" rod. I prefer "slow" rods and I don't believe that Sage really makes one anymore. The CIRCA was their slow...

I don't remember, how do I access the old site. I do not even remember the name

I was unable to get any info from Sage beyond my rod listed as "non-repairable". The list of rods they won't repair anymore is very large. "Lifetime" warranty seems to be lifetime of a typical dog rather than a person. I have stopped buying any new Sage rods. Their crazy retail cost is...

My fishing buddy broke one of my favorite rods and Sage cannot (will not?) repair. I only need the butt section if someone has a rod with a missing tip I can make that work. Rod would need to be shipped to NH. Looking for Sage SLT 4wt. 9 ft.

I bought my son one about 5 years ago. It is a 5wt reel. I don't know what the deal is anymore, but it came at a great price ($99?) with line and backing installed. It has held up really well and still works fine. I don't have any reservations about recommending one

Allegedly, the holes in the wings make them look "ratty" and the fish key in on the bug as they can't fly with mangled wings. I have no idea if that is true, but the pattern does catch fish

This is the Damselfly video from Barry Ord Clarke that I have used for many years. The only adjustment I make to the pattern is that I use Swiss Straw for the wings and then use a hot bodkin to put holes in the wings. Allegedly, looks like a cripple, but I can't verify. It does catch fish.

Absolutely shocking report

BBQ lighter fluid and a match (after dark of course)

3 dozen mixed tomatoes become puree into 4 containers for freezing. Heat and an immersion blender is all that is needed. When the Amish Paste tomatoes get fully ripe we also make "tomato bombs" by boiling down to a super concentrated slush and pouring it into ice cube trays. We drop the...

Two scientists, who happen to be a couple, are using new research to get anglers to rethink the need to take striped bass out of the water for a picture. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/08/28/science/striped-bass-photo/?s_campaign=8315:varf

AI will be integrated into fish finder devices and more fish will be taken. I believe fish finders are not something that fly fishers should use, but that is just my snob opinion so the AI will make it worse
