    What are you playing?

That's because you may be trying to tie flies as a realist. I tie mine as an impressionist, or even a folk artist, which means I need practically no talent at all. Fish attack my flies out of sympathy, or insult and disgust.... I'm not sure which, but I'll take it.

    What are you playing?

I haven't allowed myself to be sucked into the vortex of video games...(Don't hate me, OK?...😉) ..Instead, I've been sucked into the vortex of playing pickleball 3 times per week. For me, its too easy to spend too much time at a keyboard. I want to be out "doin actual stuff", while I still can.

    NFR What Are You Drinking?

Old Monk rum I had never associated India (or monks ) with good rum, but this is as good as any high-priced ones I've tried, and a steal at $35 cdn ($25 usd) per bottle. I drink it straight...no ice or mix.

    Coho 2026

I normally flyfish for coho off the beach, but, there are times when they don't cooperate and stay out beyond casting range. For the past two seasons, I have been using a a spinning rod, with an Inno-bombarda (or Bombette) float setup (developed in Denmark), enabling me to cast an obscene (350'...

Up at the crack: fishing day breakfasts?

I often make overnight oats the night before: rolled oats, almond milk, cinamon, blueberries, yogurt, maple syrup. I nuke it in the am, 2 cups of offee and out the door.

    Sand in wading boots

I'm guessing your River Salt boots are too porous, allowing sand in, causing wear on your booties. I use Simms Freestone boots, which have a leather-like vinyl boot. They are heavier, but I get very little sand inside the boots.

How do I store all these damn fly rod tubes?

This is similar to what I use. Should accommodate 20 tubes...very small footprint'. I have 12 large rod/reel tubes in mine with lots of room left. approx 34" H x 18" W x 12" D (at top) Re stability: I wondered if the hamper might be tippy, but, IMO, the weight of the tubes directly to the bottom...

    Floating phone case?

Good point. I finally realized the pic I took of a fish 10 years ago looks suspiciously similar to the one I took last year..... They could be related....;)

    Floating phone case?

I've ruined two phones dunking in saltwater, both "supposedly" in waterproof cases. The only foolproof waterproof case I trust now is the console of my truck when I'm fishing.

    Best outfit for tactical crabbing?

My buddies and I have gotten a little competitive, trying to outdo each other with our crabbing rigs. I thought |I'd pulled out all the stops by adding a bicycle grip streamer to the handle of mine....Then a buddy sent me this: With hat-mounted drone, various go-pros and a sonar...

Breaking Strength of Gear Tethers (ie: net, wading staff, etc)

Very good idea. IMO, a breakaway link not so important in smaller flows, but, in big flows, should be emphasized as a safety must..

Breaking Strength of Gear Tethers (ie: net, wading staff, etc)

I've been thinking a lot about this lately, so thought I'd open up a discussion, as it may prevent some grief for someone in the future. Here goes: I've seen quite a few posts re different configurations for wading staff tethers. They vary from very light strength, to some, I'm sure, that would...
