    Quick Turn of the Page!

That's kind of you to say. This would have been a very short story had I not made the mistakes I made early on in the season. My son wishes he was a Sooner! He's not that talented. He's in the armpit of OK in a town called Alva. I'm pretty sure there have been some zombie movies filmed there...

The evening was a bust. I suck at elk hunting:ROFLMAO:

    Quick Turn of the Page!

This morning I knew exactly where I needed to be at daylight. I had seen a bull on his way to bed with the herd the day before. It's about a half mile, as the crow flies, from where I park. I'm not a crow, so I have to walk around this big knob, drop a couple hundred feet of elevation and climb...

Last Thursday I took off for Oklahoma with my wife to watch my boy play football. He had a streak of bad luck with his body. He had 3 surgeries in 11 months and has been sidelined for 2 seasons. He fought his ass off to get healthy. It was so awesome to see him back out on the field doing what...

    College Football 2026

I love college football! I know a ton of kids playing college football right now. I find myself flipping around to watch players rather than teams. Between the kids I've coached and all of my son's buddies who have transferred around it's hard to keep track but so much fun to try. My last group...

    Got any bird pics?

I used to see night hawks all the time when I was a kid. I haven't seen one in a long time. I would love to get a quality shot, like yours!

    OFFICIAL 2026 NFL SEASON DISCUSSION

Fans might not like games like that but coaches LOVE those kinds of wins.

I think that would work if was trying to get them to walk out of the timber and into the open. I need them to stop being out in the open and go into the timber. Specifically, the timber I'm allowed to hunt. :)

    So where's the guardrails?

I have been hearing people talk about "guard rails" for a year now. What would a guard rail be for something that teaches itself? It feels like the idea of using my seat cushion as a floatation device. I don't doubt that the cushion will float but will anyone be alive to prove that?

    So where's the guardrails?

If it's capable of what, it's been reported to do be capable of, are guardrails anything more than pissing on the proverbial forest fire?

    So where's the guardrails?

I think there might be 3-4 people on this site NOT old enough to remember that one:ROFLMAO:.

Well...I have come to the realization that I need to find some new elk, hope these elk change their pattern, or hang a tree stand on them. I just can't get in bow range of these particular elk if they continue to do what they've been doing most days for the past 10...not on the ground. I can...

I don’t know the answer to that Merle. I’m hoping it doesn’t come into play. I’ve thought about it quite a bit. If I can’t poke one tomorrow, I’ll probably be done with the ranch. When I get back from OK the rut should be going hard and I’ll get back into the mountains where I would prefer to be.

@Long_Rod_Silvers You are not alone...I'm right there with you! This morning I found myself "butt scooting" the edge of some ag for 300 yards only to come up about 50 yards short of getting to where I need to be to get a shot before they slinked into the tribal ground that I can't hunt. So...

Saturday morning…got back on a herd with a decent bull but they gave me the slip. On my way back to my rig I found a couple spikes that were hanging out together. I thought these two dipshits would be easy to call in…nope! My wife joined me again for the evening. We got into the path between...

    Quick Turn of the Page!

Well I totally botched it this morning! I overthought where I was going to be at first light. I should have re-run the play from Wednesday morning but I didn’t. Then I got impatient, gave up on the hunt, and walked right into a herd with a nice bull on my way out. It poured rain all morning! I...

    Quick Turn of the Page!

Well…to Vagabond’s point..I learned something on Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning I used it to put myself in a great position for multiple opportunities. I found them before first light and was 10-150 yards from the herd for the next 2 1/2 hours. It was as much fun and prolonged adrenaline...

Up at the crack: fishing day breakfasts?

Black coffee…but I might be able to live the rest of my life on breakfast burritos when I finally start eating for the day.

    Quick Turn of the Page!

Less than 5 days ago I was floating a river in Montana...this morning I was 85 yards from the biggest bull I've been close to with a bow in my hand. I'll be honest, I wasn't ready for that. Sunday was the opener here in Idaho and I got out for half the day. I fumble farted my way around and...
