That's all nothing new in my experience. We lost one fish to a downrigger on the bar but that's part of the deal there.

I'm three years older than my wife. If we had met when we were 24 and 21 there's no way we would be together now. At least you have that arranged deal to fall back on if something doesn't shake out.

Mooching for Kings is might favorite salmon fishing but in Puget Sound it's pretty much a memory at this point. My wife wants to move to the peninsula anyway. Might just squeeze a little more out of it and fish PA. Either way 3 days or 6 it isn't much reason to own a boat.

I was out all 6 days. It's anecdotal but neither seemed all that more crowded than when they were both open. I'm guessing you end up with 3 days total vs 6.

Sabiki and depth sounder. A bait rod that conceals the sabiki helps from getting it tangled in everything before you get there.

Looks like the pier can keep them either way.

One down side to live versus frozen is you will have scales everywhere.

I usually fish them whole when I jig them. My dad would cut plug them and they didn't blowout but we weren't freezing them. If want to freeze them I remember dropping them live in RV antifreeze. Probably not the best for releasing wild fish.

When 9 and 10 are down to 3 days when it used to be year round it's already over. If you don't already have a boat and the shit to fish for Kings I wouldn't recommend buying them.

Probably wouldn't use the 7wt at PNP if that's the plan though.
