Hopefully they will be able to reopen Coldwater once the area settles down a bit. On the news they mentioned that going up to Johnston Ridge Observatory will most likely not happen this year. My hope is that after a few weeks they reconsider and have the closure up closer to the slide and...

Cool story Paul - thanks for sharing. That trout is a monster for that lake! Congrats. Looks like a Cutthroat? Peach

A Laker is on my species bucket list as well, I have never caught one on a fly or any other method. I have a plan to go after one later this summer - I think in the same Alpine Lake as this. This report provides some timely and awesome motivation. Thanks for sharing. Peach

I am not trying to be a smart ass, as I applaud the effort and love to see good causes like this to salvage a special breed of trout, I would probably like to volunteer if I lived closer, but wouldn't the trout just come back? Or is the thought that they have completed their "spawn" and moving...

It has been many years since I have fished that lake. Last time I visited it, the forest land was decimated with clear cutting, but the lake is located on a timber company land so I guess it is to be expected. Many, many years ago when ODFW just started their "Trophy Trout" program the fish...

Relocate where? Peach

Wonder what the reasoning is with continuing with the Browns and not the Tigers? Both are fun fish to catch and both are similar with regards on how they fight vs rainbows - but Tigers are just a cool looking fish and even though their fight is similiar to the Browns, to me Tigers are just a...

There has been a decrease of fisher folks for that lake in the recent years, which is a good thing, I think :). Peach

What size of fish are these stockings? Assuming from the discussion this is the amount of fingerlings being stocked and not the standard 8 inch "legals" (I think that is what WDFW and other FWD call that class size). I ask because I don't know what the standard size is when WDFW stock this...

Yup - done this not only on my fly boxes but other equipement as well that I can stick these labels on. Saved me twice from losing fly boxes. These labels work good on nets as well. I do have to write my telephone number on the labels, you have to have small handwriting but it works. Peach

Got it. Seems like to me for whatever reason, folks that fish the Deschutes have to be different & elite and categorgize their trout as special & unique :). Not a suprise considering some how some folks consider the Deschutes as some kind of holy grail. Maybe not as snobish as those that...

I think this is a primarily Oregon question, but can anyone explain the difference between a Redside Rainbow Trout which is found in the Deschutes River System and a Redband Rainbow Trout which are native wild fish located in most rivers systems East of the Cascades? The ODFW mentions if you...

Cool fish. Not an "unicorn" on the Met - but very small population in that River, a once in a few years event. My understanding is that they work there way up from Lake Billy Chinook - like the Bulls but obviously not as abundant as the Bulls. Lot more Browns in the lake from what I...

Great Video. Great discussion around public access to land lock public lands. Curious how much more $$$ it cost the hunter to haul that elk out with the copter? :). Peach

Second on this one - great Stillwater rods...

This Cortland graphite LTD Extra-Large 120 reel has a palming rim with a smooth powerful disc drag . It easily converts from left to right-hand use. The reel is loaded with a floating line of some sort (unknown) . The reel shows minor wear from some use, not a lot. It's in good working...

Order placed :). BTW when did the "Old Man Hat" become the old man style? I always considered the Trucker Style to be the old fashion hat - now the trucker style is the cool new fad and the old man style is well - for old men apparently. I can't keep up with the kidz and the new apparel...

Kind of a cool topic - I am kind of into ball caps. Just started to add to my collection. Just recently, I too just started to buy hats in most fly shops I visit just for fun. My contribution towards supporting the Mom & Pops along with the standard flies for the area I am fishing. My...

2022 ended up being a pretty good year. The most of the fishing wasn't fast or furious, but size and quality were good this year. This ongoing drought conditions forced me to try new locations, which was cool to find new fishing holes. Exploration is one of the itmes which makes fly fishing...

Both Chickahominy and Mann are completely dried up. The pictures are from Chick this past April as I did make a trip down to Frenchglen. Stayed at the Frenchglen hotel for a few nights. The hotel was clean but nostalgic but the rooms were basically a bed and a night stand, but the dinners...
