All the slip bobbers I've used are tight to the line--at the required distance above the fly to drop it to the right depth--until you set the hook (or miss a strike). I.e., if you want the fly to be14 feet deep, you've got to have 14 feet of line *below* the slip bobber. If you know of one that...

Don't see how you can move enough line on a strike to set the hook. Especially if it's down there 15 or 16 feet. Or get enough leader off the water to cast.

I fish a 9 1/2 ft 6 wt Sage VXP with fighting butt with a SA Anadro WF6F line. It's a medium fast rod that works well for getting the unwieldy rig out there and landing larger fish. Carry a 9 ft 6wt Orvis Helios rigged with a dry or for when I want to streamer.

Don't know anything about your boat, but when I anchor my pontoon in a lake with a 10 lb anchor, it can get mired in the mud and take a lot of force to dislodge. You may need something stronger than a zip tie on the pulley.
