I've found that zap a gap lasts longer for me when I cut about half the bristles off the brush. I think that it's less prone to clog up the opening that way. I have an old pair of scissors I use to cut the bristles in case I don't get the glue wiped off entirely.

Looks like it's running out of oomph right around Eugene. I see some stations on the Willamette taking a pretty good bump this week but the North Umpqua is pretty much flat lining. We haven't had a good push of water yet this fall.
