    Waders

Anyone have any recommendations for "summer weight" waders?

    First fly-caught fish in Antarctica?

Probably not in our lifetime, but I bet sea run browns from S. America and the assorted islands in the south Atlantic will eventually make their way down there.

    Old Steelhead Reports

Uhh, do they still got 5lb trout in the Cispus!?

THE DRAKE magazine - any subscribers, thoughts???

Based on these comments, it looks like I'm aging into FFJ. I should pick it up.

    Waders

I am a small guy, and the legs can still be tight taking the waders on or off. I am conscious about what my layers are and how much space they take up. I don't just grab thick fleece pants and layer up, I try and use the thinnest layers possible and as few as I can. Taking up less space in the...

What fishing/outdoor/etc stuff are you most looking forward to in 2025?

Gonna have to do a photo heavy trip report for that one!

What fishing/outdoor/etc stuff are you most looking forward to in 2025?

Same thing every year, anadramous fishy-things in Columbia tribs, duh!

Shout out to PNWFF.com on national media!

I listened to that, it's a good one! It's got a good story too.

    Sauk/Skagit open for CnR 2/1

For real, when a fish is caught in front of you, make a note of where it came from. Highly likely another fish will be in that spot in the future, possibly even later that day.

Seaside Oregon Salt - Early May?

Surf perch are around in the surf (duh!), and also around rocks. Lings and bass might be around the rocks further south, but be aware fishing rocks can be real dangerous. Also there are some marine protection/sanctuary areas around, so make sure to check OR regs on where they are. SRC season...

Streamside ID for similar Polyleaders (VersiLeaders)

That would require not wadding them up and stuffing them in a wader pocket while I am fishing... 🙂

Streamside ID for similar Polyleaders (VersiLeaders)

I thought rio versileaders had color bands on them? Airflo poly's are differently colored, it's just barely perceptible. Float/hover/int are all clear though. I like J's idea. Marker, or you could use different colored thread. Just a couple wraps at the loop, enough to notice, and cover it...

Running into fishing enforcement on my first day flyfishing...

I've only had my license checked twice, both times on the Deschutes in the fall. I bet they were looking for salmon poachers. I've never been checked west of the cascades. I've run into OSP a couple of times and chat them up, but they probably figured I ain't catching' shit when they see the...

OSP needs help (fishing closed waters on Walla Walla river)

Someone on another board also suggested he may be doing some trespassing to fish, so that might push the report along... Maybe he regularly does this.

    Vibram or felt sole..?

Vibram with studs because 99% of my fishing is walk/wade. Studded rubber is the best compromise you can do if you are walking and wading. It's not the best, but not total disaster, either. If I had a raft/boat, I'd probably wear a pair of studded felt soles because they are superior in the water.

HELP, Landowner Blocking Historical Access Point to the Miami River, How To Proceed

If you want to keep pushing this, I would try Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. These are the type of issues that they like to take up.

    Music on the water

I don't listen to music on the water. I'm out there to be in nature, so I like to leave that stuff behind. I can see listening to music on headphones/buds if there is a lot of undesirable ambient noise (roads/leafblowers/dubstep from rafters), but I wouldn't because it would decrease...
