    High End Coolers vs. E-Coolers

You forgot to mention the electrified tanglefoot wire, motion detector alarms, and claymores deployed around the perimeter of the Casa campsite!

    Rod Carriers

Good point! I also place the flyrod butt/attached flyreel inside a Crown Royal bag to reduce road dust intrusion, as well as wear on the reel anodized surface from vibration. My flyrods remain fully assembled at home....ready to be inserted into the vault in minutes. Saves shitloads of time...

    Rod Carriers

I've used a 4 flyrod vault (Denver design) for several years. Really like the time it saves getting on water. 4 comments... 1) You need to have the flyrod protected by some sort of soft fabric sleeve (somewhat of a flyrod condom) because vibration inside the tube can abrade guide wraps...

    Can you spot AI photos?

Some of the 'deep fake' AI generated videos of well regarded and very reputable medical professionals and celebrities are being used to scam people by hawking snakeoil cures for horrific diseases like cancer and dementia. The videos are incredibly realistic.

Hilariously overpriced used item listings around the internet

Same situation exists with used motorcycles (especially HD). Nobody cares how much money you wasted on 'personalizing' your bike with chrome bling crap...even if you've "got receipts".

    Commander SUP? Why not?

Good idea installing a removable fin skeg. I need to put one (or jury-rig some sort of controllable rudder) on my shortest SOT kayak (9') because it's a fat little bitch to paddle in a straight line on flatwater.

    Commander SUP? Why not?

I cast equally shitty whether I'm standing up or sitting on my fat ass.

Even better, email the regional office who will forward the question to the appropriate officer....and print out their response. I've always received timely responses to my questions. Enforcement folks don't always share the same opinion regarding regulatory interpretation and a printed email...

    Commander SUP? Why not?

Do you regularly take both the SUP and Hobie to fishing destinations? Another alternative (albeit an expensive one) is the Hobie Lynx...

    Commander SUP? Why not?

Having watched SUP flyfishers on one of our small flyfishing-only lakes for several seasons I'd say it presents some serious challenges even during light winds, which necessitates spending far more time with a paddle than flyrod in hand....and there are very few windless days on most lakes...

Fly Shop Life as a Dad

Cherish your parental experiences...but realize that very little of their evolving life and personal desire will follow your direction...nor should it. Many surprises ahead!

    Is this where it’s headed

Gee...hope I'm not irritating Ive when I do 'Flight of the Bumblebee' with my PFD rescue whistle.

    Lake craft recommendation

I've long operated on the axiom that anything that's difficult to use soon sits permanently idle. My neighborhood is full of beautiful powerboats and RVs that haven't been used in years....and I suspect that much of stuff that resides in RV storage facilities suffers the same fate.

    Lake craft recommendation

Some of the fishing kayaks are so big and wide that they actually can't be paddled...which means you could be in a world of hurt if the drive breaks down or your battery powered motor ceases to function. I think the emphasis on being able to stand up and carry tons of gear has resulted in the...

I just slide the Hobie into and out of the bed of my pickup, which is easy using a Hobie scupper cart. With the tailgate down about four feet of kayak hangs out the back....which is supported by a couple of NRS straps hooked onto a climbing sling looped around the end of the kayak. I can carry...

Hobie dealers really like the Passport rudder system too! I remember the first time I took my Passport out for a spin on a local lake....forgot to deploy the rudder, which results in the kayak simply going in a circle!

According to the internet Hobie had reverse in all their kayaks starting in model year 2017. They came out with the Passport, their lowest priced kayak, in 2019, and it doesn't have reverse. I have two of them, both upgraded to the same reverse drive in their other models. Passport rudders...

    Lake craft recommendation

I used a short 'hand paddle' to accomplish the same back in the day...kept me "busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest" and was really challenging in the wind.

    Lake craft recommendation

Indeed...that's what makes an inflatable (with fins) or a pedal kayak so effective; you can keep your hands on the flyrod at all times. Conversely, any necessity to paddle or row (such as with a pram or paddle kayak) means you'll spend a great deal of time missing strikes and not really...
