    New Asquith

Hell...I think anybody who would pay $1k for a Sage is a dumfuk...this is a whole 'nuther level of dumfukery.

    Any use the Garmin InReach?

I've tended to use my Inreach devices (none were the mini units) unpaired with my smartphone....uses more battery for both if paired and really wanted to learn to effectively use all of my Inreach devices' features. I don't send out or receive frequent or complex text messages...and during my...

    Firehole Outdoors Closing

The outfit that purchased Firehole finally decided to simply liquidate the remaining product; that's what's showing up now at various vendors. Sort of a 'Fire' sale. 😮‍💨

    Firehole Outdoors Closing

Well over a year ago I heard from a local shop that they were going to stop carrying Firehole because of its inability to reliably provide its very high quality product. They were liquidating their stock of Firehole hooks at a deep discount. Having already amassed a large quantity over the...

    Any use the Garmin InReach?

I dunno...I've never had problems learning how to use the features I want to use on any of my Garmin electronic gear. Just watch a few youtube demos...and ignore the stuff that's personally useless.

    Any use the Garmin InReach?

I've used the Garmin Inreach devices for many years. Always works. Never had to use the SOS feature, but the texting capability allows me to let my wife know I'm changing destinations and/or departure times while I'm out in the boonies. My current unit also has full GPS North America maps...

What's Your Favorite Feature of Your Fishing Kayak?

Gotta be an improvement....after being owned by three successive VC entities intent on extracting whatever value Hobie retained it was looking like a death spiral....

In defense of the fly fishing club

As for contributing to the continued 'survivability' of flyfishing I've three adult flyfishing grandchildren who I continue to mentor and support, and (prior to retirement at 70), was professionally engaged for 45 years exclusively focused on water quality science and regulation.

In defense of the fly fishing club

I think participation in associations/clubs are a natural fit for those folks who have gregarious personalities and have sufficient discretionary time. While I have the requisite time I have absolutely no inclination to do so, being quite happy to recreate alone, or in the company of a very few...

How have you adapted to fishing with Age and Medical Challenges?

Now in my 70's I have finally switched to kayak scupper wheels to haul kayaks around and now only fish with Hobie Mirage pedal drive. Since the vast majority of my fishing has always been lakes I've not had to modify my flyfishing much at all...and have easily maintained my shitty flyfishing...

Although I've over 200,000 miles on motorcycles my first love will always be bicycles...even more so than flyfishing.
