    Neoprene Waders?

They're very warm, a bitch to get on and off, and provide great entertainment to spectators watching you walk around looking like a potato with legs.

Good on you for getting him an appropriate helmet...protecting the old noggin is (of course!) the most important thing....and good on the pros who've made wearing them 'cool'!

    Getting started with fly tying

That flytying station will work great with some sort of desk/bench! Start looking for an old roll top it will fit inside...hides the inevitable flytying mess very effectively!

    The Mountain Bike Thread

It's a great lifetime activity at any level...and modern safety gear mitigates the risk tremendously. My grandparents (who both rode motorcycles in the 1913 era) had an only child (my mother) and they were so protective she was never allowed indulging in any sort of risk...riding a bicycle was...

Just ordered a Litespeed Pinhoti 3 hardtail. Never had a titanium bike before, but I've lusted for a Litespeed for decades.

Waders that will last me at least 5 seasons

Certainly not blaming the 'victim' but how you put on and take off waders can easily affect wader longevity/integrity, especially at seams. Digging in with a couple of fingers and applying a lot of force puts a lot of stress on seams, and standing on bare ground instead of some clean carpeting...

    SFR Vermont recreational use pass

Licenses and passes are a mere pittance compared to what I spend on outdoor gear and the costs associated with getting afield. I work hard at keeping my geriatric price whining in check.

What credit card do people like

I like my REI Cap one card. Gives an additional 5% dividend to the 10% REI dividend for REI purchases. As for airline miles I have absolutely no need to acquire...never flying again after my recent extremely unpleasant experiences. As for card interest...what's that? I pay off the balances...

What's Your Favorite Feature of Your Fishing Kayak?

A message to 'call for rescue' should be a last resort, and is absolutely not a substitute for adequate preparation. Same sort of situation occurs in mountaineering these days, especially with the advent of cellphones and satellite communication devices.

    Worrisome Trend?

The problem with declining interest in any natural resource dependent activity is that it means fewer people are even aware of its existence and could care less about maintaining its continuing availability.

    Worrisome Trend?

Yellowjackets With An End Of The Season Vengeance!!!

I find stings from Bald Face hornets to cause the most pain and lasting symptoms. Maybe it's the type or volume of the venom those aggressive bastards employ.

Click pawl reels are the Harley Davidson of the river

My HD Superglide's Vance & Hines straight pipes render click pawl drag noise irrelevant. And the six V&H straight pipes on my Valkyrie Interstate will make you pine for the subtle sound of outboards on your favorite flatwater.

Yellowjackets With An End Of The Season Vengeance!!!

Indeed I do...but the sad part is that there's no functional reason for justifying extreme price gouging for a technology perfected decades ago.

Yellowjackets With An End Of The Season Vengeance!!!

Wait till you you see the current cost of an Epipen these days....they were about $100 a few years ago but the current price runs about $700 and even with coverage offsets can easily hit $300+. Greed is good!

    High End Coolers vs. E-Coolers

You forgot to mention the electrified tanglefoot wire, motion detector alarms, and claymores deployed around the perimeter of the Casa campsite!
