Which trout would you prefer to eat

Another backpacking trick learned: a packet of Lipton onion soup. Make the soup, cut up trout on the rib line bias into chunks, and poach. I would usually scale fish first.

Which trout would you prefer to eat

Brook trout for sure, high mountain lakes. Boy scout days we would take canned bacon. I always volunteered for pot cleaning detail as it kept me free during daylight to fish. Southern gentleman introduced us to his seasoned cornmeal, and fried in the saved bacon fat tasted rather good. That...

    Rattlesnake Lake

Dominant food source is daphnia. Have noticed better chironomid hatches recently. Usually fish anchored up vertical in 50' and find where they are hanging out. Can get good numbers of fish, a few suckers also. Water stays colder so good bet into July when other lakes are really too warm for...

How to fish boobies? Need advice

Hmmm... Well, I like to try to get into the food cycle of the fish. You know, figure out what they are eating, and imitate that. So I usually look for a "hatch", of midges, damsels, callibaetis even dragonflies or baitfish etc. Problem is every time I have gotten into a good boobie hatch, I...

    Tippet spool management

So we have all been there, tippet coming loose from the spool and forming a small birds nest in a pocket, in the boat bag, or on the bottom of the pram. So I hope someone has found, tested and endorses the best product, or created a solution to this malady: Maxima shark tooth...which size...

Sent this out before, but a creative way to have your Striker set up for multiple craft, float tube, framed pontoon, frameless pontoon, pram, or boat. Car caddy (AutoZone) with a strap to go around any tube, with a Scotty small track mounted to middle. Can add a 241 block for other accessories...

    Garmin Striker Questions

Careful with the Scotty arm, it is not very long since designed for low riding kayak. Just reaches with my pram, may be too short to reach from gunnel of drift boat. It does reach from a 12' aluminum cartop Crestliner set up with gunwale clamp and Scotty arm. That said, I love my set up.
