NFR Nothing to do with fishing, just a great story (and in Bremerton)

Only the NY Times would ever have this kind of reporting https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/11/20/us/typewriter-repair-seattle-bremerton.html?unlocked_article_code=1.2k8.VYnq.m5P7rpjZR8Wk&smid=url-share This is a share and should work.

Waders that will last me at least 5 seasons

In my experience, the only waders which last forever were my old ( and I do mean old) Red Ball rubber waders. They were horrible to wear, but you almost couldn't cut them with a knife. Now I alternate between a pair of LL Bean zipper fronts ( no linger sold) and waist high Dryft. I actually...

Affordable places you would actually want to live

Actually, I like where I live-New Hampshire. An hour from the ocean, and hour from the mountains, and an hour from Boston (traffic dependent). In addition, the state has no sales, or income tax. Trout & Salmon fishing is not as good as I would like, but I have many spots in Maine, Vermont...

    Smoked cheese anyone?

I am unsure of how you get the cheese into the rolling paper. Maybe just use a bong instead?

Are fly fishing magazines a thing again?

I only get one fishing magazine anymore: Fly Tyer. The pictures are just great. Way better than my monitor I used to get at least 3 mags, but times have changed.

    SFR Vermont recreational use pass

I got the original "geezer pass" to the National Parks. It is the best $10 I ever spent. I would pay a fee to use state parks here in NH if they asked. There is a boat registration fee if you have a motor. I have an electric trolling motor for my canoe and pay the yearly reg cost. There...

    Gunfire and Brain Injury

I figure that some here are shooters/hunters and may have an interest in this article from NY Times which describes how gun blast pressure can cause Traumatic Brian Injury (TBI). This is a share, but I cannot guarantee it will work...

    NFR. Time to hang 'em.

Where I live (NH) the Ruby Throated bird is the only species. It is a seasonal migration. They usually arrive in early May and depart mid-September. We can't put out seed & suet feeders until 12/1 as bears are still active and will destroy any feeders that they find.

    NFR 2025 Gardening Growing Thread

I have to admit that I had to look up Oca on Google. Never heard of it before. Based on the description, I would have like to try it, but the listed climate zones of 7-9 do not match my 4-5 so I will look for some in a nearby "world" food store

Less than an hour after sunset...allegedly :)

I don't know what your local regs are about fishing post sunset, but the pic looks to me that it was ok to fish as the OP was clearly in civil twilight as opposed to astronomical twilight (aka night) Civil twilight is the period of time for which the geometric center of the Sun is between the...

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2025/10/10/business/orvis-vermont-sporting-retailer-closing-stores/ In my estimation, Orvis, LL Bean, and other "sports stores" have become retailers that focus on selling clothing, footwear, and lifestyle accessories. They are no longer mainly sports and sport...
