    Salmon Forecasts

Most forecast looks better than I expected. But the Chum forecasts for the North Sound are absolutely depressing. Only a small fraction of the run we had just 20 or so years ago.

"This Lake's Fisheries are Managed Stupidly"

Is that Curlew Lake in that video? If it is, that lake is full of perch and tons of stunted largies. For some reason the state decided to plant Kokanee in there from what I've heard, but I don't know if they have done well in that lake.

    Pink Year

Put them in the smoker. I've shared smoked humpy with friends and they couldn't tell it was humpy. Although it might not matter because anything smoked tastes good though.

    Pink Year

This is what my favorite beach is gonna look like from opening day to labor day weekend. Great place to make best friends ;).

Days on the water - 2022?

45 days for me About 30 of those were spent in July-September in the Sound.

    New Years Resolutions

This past year was the first year I started fly fishing, and it's been a blast. Right now I think my new years resolution is to explore the local spots a bit more as I feel like I didn't cover much ground last year. Lots of unexplored places. Gear fishing wise, it is to hook into my first...

    Got any bird pics?

History. If I had the brains I would have gone for something in the sciences (like the good fisheries program they have there, or geology). But unfortunately it has always been something I really struggled in despite my interest. But maybe I'll take some fisheries classes to get reach my...

    Got any bird pics?

Not the best phone picture, but here is a lonely Greater white-fronted goose. A rarer find among the dozens of Canada geese that I walk past every day on the way to class at UW.

Strange, weird or odd or whatever beach finds thread….

I remember that crash pretty well, as I live not far from it. At the time I was fishing at a fairly popular beach just around the corner and heard a loud booming noise, almost like a bomb exploding in the distance. Didn't think too much of it at the time. Then I realized a few hours later what...

    SFR Favorite Season?

My favorite time of year is this last half of September. Coho fishing in the Sound and watching the kings swim up my local crick are the two things I look forward to the most each year.

    NFL 2022 Season

Great win by the Hawks! Geno balled out tonight and those goal-line stands were huge.

    Puget Sound

Lake Washington is almost at 16k for Chinook too. Those numbers probably explain why I have seen an odd number of chinook roll right by me the past two weeks or so. Way better than forecasted. They haven't even opened the lake up in about 25 years, but when it was open it was a decent fishery...

    Resi-Salmon Program

They are all clipped. I do know that there are a decent amount of residents released at Edmonds that wander up here. I figure the same with Port Gamble, since it only a few miles away from where I'm seeing them.

    Resi-Salmon Program

I notice the same thing on the beaches I fish in Admiralty Inlet. There seems to be a ton of those around, all 6-12 inch little coho. A lot are still at the size where they could still migrate out, while others are big enough to pass as jacks. Perhaps it is a huge crop of residents? Never seen...

    Area #13

Looks like WDFW just shut every thing down in MA13. This is unexpected.

    NFR College Football 2022

This college football season is gonna be interesting for me. I grew up a Coug fan and went there last year, but now I transferred to UW. I am questioning whether to root for both, stay a Coug, or convert to a Husky. I am a very confused football fan. Maybe I just say screw both teams and root...

    Area 9 Opener

If I remember correctly, 2015 was the last time we were able to fish MA9, as well as MA8-2, in October. I wonder what numbers it would take to open it back up, since 2015 wasn't a spectacular season numbers wise.

    Area 9 Opener

Eventhough the MA 9 chinook fishery seemed slow the past weekend it looks like the quota could be met fairly soon. It wouldn't be shocking if the chinook fishery doesn't last past this coming weekend, considering the good tides. We're at 2,705/4,700 fish harvested (58% of the quota).

    NFR College Football 2022

When the dust starts to settle after this realignment I think Wazzu and Oregon St. are sadly going to get left behind. Probably Mountain West bound. I hear rumors of Utah, Colorado, ASU, and UofA to the Big12. UW, Oregon, maybe Stanford and possibly Cal if they get lucky to the Big Ten.
