    Favorite Sage Fly Rod

2 pc 6 weight 9' XP is my favorite . Had a 5 weight VXP 9' 4 piece that was a close second , fished it a lot . Never was much of a popular rod ,not sure I ever seen anyone with one . Unfortunately broke it a couple years ago , one they don't fix , replaced it with a Sonic ,not a fan of that rod .

a little bit of a drift here , I have two 100 amp LifePO4 that I am going to install in my boat once I get settled in Montana on our annual summer trip to run my 24 volt Minn Kota . Will be ordering a new onboard charger to support the lithium . Anxious to see how much more run time I get ...

Very Memorable Experiences in your Life

The most memorable for me was a motorcycle accident on Chase Lane in Centerville, Ut in 1964 at the age of 17 . It nearly severed my right leg , they were able to save it when getting me in the operating room to amputate it . After looking at the injury , checking blood supply etc ,decided to...

    Another Two Fly Question

I have in the past tied off the bend of the hook , not a fan at all , nor off the eye . Neither one now . No matter what set up I am doing whether it is just nymph fishing in a river or indicator fishing , or trolling flies in a lake , I fish the upper fly off a tag . Both methods I fish a...

    Another Two Fly Question

I am trying to be aware of ,especially when the water is a little choppy , seeing that subtle take . We like what we call that chironomid chop ,that ripple on the water where it's giving that fly some movement .

    Another Two Fly Question

I too have used the two color scheme. I think I have three different sizes of those oros . I usually use that medium size one . Thats a thought leaving that indicator a bit loose , although I use straight floro . So far as said the depth I was fishing last year leaving it fixed worked okay ...

    Another Two Fly Question

Although not indicator junkie , I too switched to the oros last year ,no more slip indicators for me ,surprisingly the fish were still easy to land . Although most of my indicator fishing the water is usually never any deeper than 15'

NFR AI - How It Will Affect Jobs In The Next 5 years

Box Elder county here in Utah is not very happy with the proposed AI data center they want to build there . Supposedly it is a huge complex . Apparently just the electricity to run it , and water to do the cooling is beyond believe .

AIS inspection sites between Seattle and Butte

Between Utah, Idaho ,and Montana , it gets a bit expensive for me ,AIS , fishing licenses etc , I usually buy the two pole permit for Idaho , so Idaho costs me the most . Got the boat all stickered up , ready to go . :) Not complaining ,just the price to pay to do what I like . Will be in...

    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

What probably helped as much as my wife saying I had a choice , was the fact I never enjoyed smoking, Iv'e heard people say I enjoy a cigarette , that wasn't me . As a lot of young people do , I got the habit , once I decided to quit it was not difficult .

    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

Started smoking when I was 17. Smoked them for nearly 25 years , that ,and Lucky Strike , but preferred Camels . My wife , had to been around the late 80's , you gotta make a choice , it's either golf or cigarettes , can't afford both . :) I chose golf , quit cold turkey , never smoked again .

NFR TICKS - The Threat Grows

I don't know what brand of tick the mule deer in Utah carry , but they have a lot on them . For whatever reason after they are shot ,all those ticks come to the nose of the deer , and there are a lot of them . I have gotten ticks on me from the deer , got them off before they did anything...
