    Is your desk a mess?

I use to be so good at keeping a clean desk in the rod room. Now I look around and see a bosch drill numerous coffee cups a couple fox tails 22 and 9mm rounds waiting to be loaded. More sink tips than I can count. Nextcast lines strewn around like spaghetti a couple hardy perfects waiting to be...

    Gorilla tape!!

Duck tape the OG of all we use to call 100 MPH tape in the racing world. Although I can testify it's good to over 200 if applied properly. Can fix a cracked cowling and even hold down a fuel tank with a sheared bolt if need be. And repair a ripped parachute on a alcohol funny car that just went...

When do you start getting the itch?

In general I don't even try to count the days I have a rod in hand. Be it a single hand or two handed rod. Right now I am rowing the canoe around checking for bass beds on my home lakes. LMB are a passion of mine always will be. Fishing the salt as well. Beating my self up trying to find a salt...

Strange, weird or odd or whatever beach finds thread….

Sadly no pics of this but did find a walrus skull while guiding on the Sandy River in Alaska where it meets the bering sea. Tusks and all. Crazy shit, and just down the beach was a very large brown bear approaching. Grabbed the skull and my.clients and headed back to the lodge.

    Net pen coho

I am not sure of those return rates either. But when you consider the fact that most river smolts are not making it back into the salt it could be seen as an enhancement? So is this the way to make up for not having natural estuaries were these fish could thrive?

Coated Running Line Crowd - solution?

Yep I actually thought the dragon tail concept was pretty cool. In my mind it comes down to personal preference. Use what you have or what your comfortable with. Speycasting evolves, experiment frequently and try new things, keep it fun. We are pretty lucky to live in a time when we have so many...

Coated Running Line Crowd - solution?

Something to take note of as Herkileez mentioned. If you enjoy using mono you will need to stretch it before use. The smaller your reel arbor is the worse it will get. Simple fix, hook your flie to a tree and start walking until all your mono is out. Apply pressure slowly and evenly until its...

    Aaron Speybum Reimer

This is a hard one to process. Close freind, mentor, just a amazing human being. Cancer fucking sucks. Rest in peace my freind. I do think a day on the river should be scheduled to honor Aaron.

    Drift Boat Oar Recommendations

My personal fav for rowing multiple days on any river. Guiding 45 days strait on the Klick and many trips on the OP. Cataract sgg, with magnum floating blades. Simple cobra our locks. Worked out great on my old Lavro 16ft outfitter. Great for doing 5 day floats on the Deschutes as well except I...

Let’s start a trout spey thread

Learning to cast from your core is a must for anyone learning speycasting. Especially as we get older. Elbows flying around will result in pain at some point with any caster. It gets worse as lines and rods get longer. And yes rowing is exactly the same, I have to remind myself of this at...

Things you know now that you wish you did back then

If it's your true passion, your religion, and what keeps you connected don't miss an opportunity to go fishing. It's just one day less in your life you will fish. They can add up fast. Fish with what you can afford and make it work to the best of your ability. Never fall for the next greatest...

    Any BOO fans out there?

Sadly I don't own one yet but have cast quite a few I really liked. The latest was a shamburg he let me cast when we were on the Skagit. It was just a sweet rod. The other was by James Reid. Equally as sweet. Eventually I hope to own both.

    Speyapalooza

I look forward to being there. Will be nice to see old friends and make a few casts.

Coated Running Line Crowd - solution?

I personally can't stand coated running lines anymore. If I do use one it's usually a Wulff. And maybe one of my old guide line's. Never Rio been disappointed to many times.
