For the Kamloops lakes I fish I seem to use slender and small antistatic bag patterns with red or black rib, a John Kent Coppertop pattern or a red butt with green body. I agree with using bloodworms as well - I put them on when my go to chironomid patterns are not working and sometimes do well.

Yes, that is what I was looking at. I thought it might have been some foam to balance the j hook.

Thank you for sharing your leader and photo of your flys troutpocket. Do you use foam on your j hooks to help keep them balanced, and if so, is it 1 mm? I have been tying some similar using 1/8 in foam on a few patterns.
