Having cast these beasts (and 12w and 14w), I suggest Sage as well. 10w is on the edge of castability (12w is there and 14w is beyond). You need to shop/try a bunch of makers. I used Sage but that was some years ago and things have changed so I have no current recommendations for a rod/maker...

They fit in full sized pickups but it is iffy in the smaller ones. The issue is width at the oar locks. I had a heck of a time with fitting one into a Tacoma with a canopy.

This is a good deal. I have 2 of them and they have endured years (10+) of hard use. I recently replaced the complete tubes, $200 each (no tax, no shipping). For $400 you get a new boat. The frame is indestructable.

Read the regs carefully, there are restrictions in places (fly fishing only for example) on extra weights. Beads are OK but not split shot. I got lectured to by a warden. Now, I just use 2 flies, the top with a bead.

In my early 40's (I'm 82 now), I decided to quit drowning worms and killing fish.

Had a knee replacement last winter and I took the rehab seriously. Quit drinking (after tapering down for some years) and just didn't start back up. No desire to either. Fizzy water (Pelligrino) takes the spot. Lost some weight too.

Avoid using OSB (oriented strand board). It has issues with absorbing water in the end-grain. A good, sloppy seal is a good idea. Careful matching the size, a lot of board is thinner than its nominal size. A 32nd less is common. If it is hidden/structural, it won't matter.

Think about regular plywood as well. It is all made with waterproof glue nowadays and you could easily/cheaply patch with it.

I agree, Rio lines do sink. However, they are solid core and do not stretch well (or at all). I tried them and found they all result in a tangle of loops in your lap. Not good when you get a decent fish on.

I tried a lot of options over the years and officially gave up. They may make lines labeled 3wt but they don't work I use 4wt intermediate and sinking lines as well as poly tips. These are the real savers for the intermediate. 4wt lines just don't sink, much. The Poly/VersaTip leaders come...

I fished this area 10-12 years ago and it was great. Lots of variety. The town was quaint and quiet back then, very pleasant.
