    Lowcountry Reds

There is something special about redfish. There are a lot of fish that excite me but I spend an unhealthy amount of time daydreaming about reds. Thanks for sharing and congrats on the fish, figuring out a new fishery while on a family trip is not an easy feat.

    Bass line question

I really like a full intermediate line for bass fishing. They allow you to fish a super wide range in depths. With faster sinking lines I don't feel like I get much of a "jigging" action which is pretty important for me.

    salmon restoration

The people who do freshwater work are not the people who can do saltwater work. Different jurisdictions. The people who have funding are doing, for the most part, the best they can. In some cases, they're doing bad jobs. I agree saltwater is a bigger problem. I showed you studies that showed...

question re noise from textured lines

The sharkskin has been discontinued for many years, and not the line OP is considering, so I don't see why they are relevant. I have fished more than one lifetime of Amplitude Textured line on a rod without any sign of wear. I think it would take many line lifetimes. No risk in trying one.

The point is you are holding conservation to an impossible standard. Your requirement for instant gratification will never be satisfied by anything sustainable, even when they start studying saltwater salmon habitat and sea-run cutthroat (they already do). It seems that your opinion is...

    salmon restoration

A study that evaluates whether or not it "increases the population of fish" is not possible in that short of a timeframe. I am sure they are underway Every system has a capacity. Opening up more habitat increases the capacity of the system. There is no constant ratio for how much the capacity...

question re noise from textured lines

I only use textured lines in the salt. They certainly shoot better, so I like them. They won't damage your guides, that is nonsense, but they will damage your finger if you strip set a tarpon. Edit: cortland smooth lines shoot as well if not better than SA textured in my opinion. But SA...

Here are three studies on the effectiveness of culvert removals. 1. 2. 3. You will find that it is a mixed bag. That is kinda how science works. You will also find that there is quite a bit of thought being put into it. You are the only person making assumptions.

    salmon restoration

The idea is that if you fix a lot of stream crossings, it will add up to a considerable amount of habitat, which will increase overall capacity. It is a long term play. The short term success of the single stream crossing project down the road from your house is not particularly relevant. As...

BC's fish passage program is in place and has funding independently of any lawsuit, as far as I know. I know there are some cases of First Nations suing governments/companies over stream crossings but I believe the province wide program is not a result of that kind of pressure. That isn't to...
