    Camping food

And when motorcycling, we always have tortillas, a can of refried beans, cheese, peppers, and onions. Instant lunch. And if we can manage a tomato, so much the better. Up in the Okanagan in summer, we stop at fruit stands for apricots, cherries, apples and whatever else they've grown.

Give me your "gotta have" travel trailer advice/gadgets/suggestions...

Lug nuts on your trailer are probably a different size than the tow vehicle. Make sure you have the right size lug wrench and a jack capable of lifting the trailer. Ask me how I know......

    Camping food

I dehydrate and vacuum seal my own meals. I have a 9 tray Excalibur dehydrator which lets me control both temperature and time. Cook whatever you want and dehydrate it yourself....soups, pasta, rice dishes, even biscuits and gravy or eggs! That way you get the spice level you want, the quantity...

NFR Low Country - Charleston, SC

Wadmalaw Island is the setting of lowcountry writer Pat Conroy's "The Water is Wide."....book better than the movie, but the movie does a decent job of it. Also spent many summers out there at a boy scout camp, canoeing, sailing, fishing.

And while the Hunley successfully sank the USS Housatonic, Hunley never returned to port. When recovered, the remains of the eight man crew were found inside, and eventually received burials with full military honors.

Grew up there. Was fishing for king mackerel off the south jetty on the day they raised the Hunley, just a mile or so from where I was anchored up. Hunley was the first submarine to ever sink another ship. Huge flotilla followed the barge with the submarine on it back into the harbor. The Hunley...

Which feathers do you use for crustacean eyes?

I can see it's time for me to get some glass beads to go on my mono melt creations. Like it! Thanks for that tip!

I also own this Native yak, and was the one I was referring to in the previous post. Yeah, instant reverse is nice, but the propellor design of the pedal system leads to fouling of the drive shaft in weedy environments encountered later in the year, plus that yak is fairly heavy. I can get it on...

Which feathers do you use for crustacean eyes?

I cut off a piece of 50 lb mono, melt the end with a lighter to create bulbs on the end and then tie those in as eyes for shrimp and crawfish patterns.

    Rogue Wave

I've been on submarine in the North Atlantic at 400ft below the surface and was rocking and rolling. Needless to say we did not come up periscope depth to get news and sports that day.

    Backpacking...

Get the Garmin In-Reach so that you can communicate while you're back-country. Lets my wife see where I am, send text messages, and call for help if needed. They offer month to month subscription or an annual one. Haven't needed it for an emergency yet, but gives both the wife and I peace of...

    The Obligatory Pedal Kayak thread

I own a Native pedal drive kayak. And I liked it until I fished out of a Hobie with the 180 drive system up in AK last year. Hands down, if you can afford the Hobie, do it.

    Backpacking...

Backpacker to fishing destinations here. Mostly in the Wallowas and Blues. Gonna be interesting to see how bad the fires were up in the Blues last year. Expecting many of my trailheads on the north side to be inaccessible. Probably will try to get into a drainage down there from the Oregon side...
