In the "Did you know?" department

There are ways to test for adultered honey or anything else where they may add sugar. Things like beer and wine. I know of one study that found most '100% pure honey" available in large chains had anywhere from 0 to 75% sugar. Beer was the same way. We always buy local.

    Stealth Pro?

Starting to look at frameless pontoons. The Stealth Pro seems to be very popular, but I saw it was on closeout at a nearby shop? Anyone know what they are replacing it with? The Outcast website says new color for 2025, so maybe it is just a cosmetic change. Looking to replace my now very...

    Yeti Water Bottles

Same here on water. I like the Yeti coolers in the hot weather though. I am also getting spoiled when snowshoeing or xc skiing and having hot tea all day.

    Yeti Water Bottles

Yeti stuff just works. I work and play a lot in the desert and have been using their stuff for years for just that reason. I joked with my wife that the french press would be a nice thing to get with the REI dividend. Something I would probably never buy, but the dividend seems like free...

Smallmouth in May, maybe hit some of the area lakes for trout. N.ID. and W. MT June and into July. Hiking in the North Cascades late July and August. Steelhead starts again when we get back.

    What's your favorite console fish/depth finder/charter thingy?

Same here on Garmin. My advice is to get the biggest screen that you can. I have a 19' and fish off of the back end, but my screen is over the console. It can be hard to see at times.

    Fly box for bushy dries?

I use the container boxes like everyone else has. I have also bought the Wheatley shells and put in the appropriate insert. The shells are pretty deep, and you can have lots of room if you only put an insert on one side.

    Bobbin Recommendations?

I have over thought this for years, and have tried and spent a lot of $$. I have settled on the simple TMC bobbin holders. Very light, fit in the palm of my hand while working with materials, and seem to hold tension very well.

    NFR Best concerts

No doubt. I saw them on their final tour with Jerry in San Francisco. Amazing. Most concerts just blend together. The Kinks in Seattle in the early 80's stands out. Best performance may be either Pat Benatar in Denver, or Emmy Lou in a small theater. Just amazing voices.

What is your favorite brand of fly line, leader and tippet and WHY?

Trout: Most of my trout lines are SA. At one point I had a bunch of lines, SA, Rio, AirFlo, and would try them all out on each rod to decide best fit. Turns out that recently it was always SA, so just started going with them. I have the Amplitude Trout and Infinity in most of the weights I...

Camping...In this Crazy World You Just Never Know Anymore

yeah, that is my thought. I grew up playing in the woods and have always lived in small towns. I do not get scared camping or when doing field work in areas with bears, but am always kind of nervous walking around some parts of Spokane, Seattle, San Fran, ........

    Head Lamp

I use a fenix for hiking, very nice. Small and light. I have an older Black Diamond in my fishing bag, also nice. I use both a lot, no complaints.

SFR Bremerton Otter Assault! (from Seattle Times)

I am still trying to figure out how I have missed out on all of this money that people say is flying around for research scientists?

    Dr. Slick Cyclone nippers

I have the new cyclones. I bought them after trying to cut braid after a pair of Simms Pro nippers could not do it. The cyclones cut everything I have tried them with. I would not buy them to use with smaller trout flies as they leave a bit of a nub the way I am using them. They are also...

    Wear your life vest

Thanks for sharing, I even wear my inflatable in our 19' jet boat. Just saw on the Spokane news that someone fell off of a stand up board and they have not found them yet. Scary.

    Anyone Tie with Bison?

A company was giving away samplers of the stuff at an expo a few years ago. I grabbed some but have not used it much. The stuff I have is very coarse, would work for big bushy patterns.

    Handgun Snake Shot

Well put. I am the same way, I carried a pistol with shot when I was hiking and backpacking in Hells Canyon area when I was in junior high and early in high school. Since then I have worked most of my life outdoors in rattlesnake country, have seen a lot, but now just admire them and have...
