Before and after....

I believe this is a root boring Beatle. There have been more this year than other years. At least the chickens like them. It is entertaining watching several chickens chasing one around. This one was moving slow. I think the colder weather is catching up to it.

I found these when I checked my cameras recently. This is from the main trail onto my property. I added a normal cat for size reference. BTW disregard the temp. It is way off.

They were probably heading to the casino.

Not my back yard, but pretty cool getting so close to this herd who couldn't care less we were watching them, as were others. Saw several herds on our way down to Eureka and back. One herd across the road from these had fourteen head I could see with my binos. All but two had four points or...

I did try a recipe like this and it turned out quite nicely. The tendons, marrow and tough stuff sort of melts during the long cook. It beats trying to salvage the useable meat amongst the silver skin and tendons.

That guy is a beast. I think he has fat rolls too.

6.5 Creedmore 129gr. I expected a passthrough at this close range but that bone stopped it. Maybe due to the light bullet. Our neighbors dog benefits from the scrap pile. Stuff not worthy of grind but not too bad either. I like to make jerky with the tougher cuts.

Found a bonus souvenir while butchering the front quarters. It was in the heavy bone of the far leg. I try not to dry age the fronts since they skin over and I feel I loose meat trying to clean that up. I would love to hear how others handle their deer meat after skinning. I break mine down...

I was sipping coffee this morning and this guy showed up in the back yard. We had named him Uni-Buck since he lost an antler early last year as a big spike. My middle daughter has been wanting to take him this year. I looked at the time and decided we should have enough time to take him down...

Got a much closer look at Uni-Buck this morning. Probably better fit on the hunting forum though. Spoiler alert.....

Busy morning on the homestead. Counted ten at one point. My daughter has called dibs on this guy we call Uni-Buck. Last year he lost an antler early. He is easy to ID with his uncommonly short tail.

This was a few months ago. This guy decided meat bird food is pretty delicious and laughed at our electric fence as he hopped over it effortlessly. Then he looked over the progress on my chicken coop build with his partner in crime.

I have been enjoying this thread. Took me a couple days to get through it all. Amazing places you all enjoy and the sites you get to see. I feel truly blessed to be near some wildlife too.

My 07 Utility Prius When I moved a bit out of town I discovered my Tundra was a bit expensive to feed. The search began for a suitable commuter car. This is what I landed on and have been really impressed. I'm sure many are surprised to be passed on the country roads by a Prius. 😆 Here she is...

Too tired for full report. I tried trolling the green fly behind a one oz mooching weight. When we slowed during a troll fish bite, the fly got picked up after, on the drop.

Thanks for the tip. I had these already in my bag but went ahead and rigged one up. I found them in my bass box. Looks pretty similar. I might troll them and then cast to jumpers.

Especially with overcast skies. Hehe I incorporated a hackle feather from one of our naughty roosters. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.....

Well, I don't have a sink tip so this is the best I can do with what I have for tomorrow. I tied up this fly to test drive. It is not as elegant as your guys stuff but probably okay at trolling speeds.

Does using a sink tip work better than just having a mooching weight ahead of the fly? Perhaps it tracks different in the water and imparts action?
