    NFR 2025 Gardening Growing Thread

How's everyone like to put up their tomatoes? Last year that I froze them individually, then put 'em in vacuum sealed bags and popped the bags in the freezer. We usually make marinara and other sauces and pastes but my wife was having some health issues and I had to get it done quick. It...

    Brain fog

I'm on the downside of my bout. I don't think I got a particularly virulent strain of the virus, but it morphed into a sinus infection that was probably the main cause of my brain fog. I'm about 1/2 way through an anti-biotic prescription and getting back to myself.

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

3 questions in there In a word I'd say "no"... longer explanation would be that the best line is the one that works best for you and what you're trying to do. FIST lines solve problems, but aren't ideal for every situation. It really depends what you're trying to do. WRT the casting problem...

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

Got the EMT out and fished it today. Really happy with the purchase, just what I was looking for; something I can easily cast tips and largish flies with splash and go casts.

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

So they shipped me just the head -- apparently they do have the connections, then they shipped me the whole kit with a free label to ship back the head to them. A++ so far for customer service. Hope to feel good enough to fish it this weekend; will report back after I get it wet.

    Rockhounding 101

Never got into rock-hounding, other than picking up the occasional 'perty' rock. It's kind of on my radar though. A friend of mine here in Roseburg finds arrow heads and jasper. I also have a sister that's into it and has all the gear to cut and polish stuff. I might have to see if I can insert...

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

I went ahead and updated my order to get the whole kit. I think the rod would benefit from the extra grainage and my 8wt Rio tips can stay with my single-hand versatip line. Can't wait to see what all the fuss with Gaelforce lines is about.

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

I got the 550gr 8/9. My Rio tips are #8 @110gr so I'll be in at 530gr overall. Be interesting to see how it casts. Maybe a set of the #9 are in order to get the right grainage on the head, we'll see.

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

Just ordered a Gaelforce EMT head from Red Shed. They told me that my Rio tips will work with that line. Looking forward to trying out my first GF line, if the river ever drops into shape.

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

So the stuff about Skagits and 3/4d scandis is interesting; keep 'em coming. I'm really looking for input from someone that's fished a Bridge Wintertide and or other short-belly lines that work with inter-changeable tips. thx.

    Brain fog

mini naps are a God-send relief for me. 20min nap = as much as an hour of almost feeling human again. Another case where working from home really helps. Can't imagine dealing with this back when I used to swing a hammer for a living.

    Brain fog

or 'bain frog' as I like to call it. Never experienced it with Covid, but man, I'm on the tail end of a 10 day virus and I got the 'frog' pretty bad. Typing Google searches into a text message window -- my kids are all wondering why I sent 'cribbage rules' and 'Pho recipe' to our family chat...

Short Belly lines with changeable tips

Looking for a short belly with changeable tips for my SageX 8130. I fish with and like the Rio Short head spey on my 7130. I see that Bridge has a head with similar features. the Winter Tide. Anyone fishing it, if so what are your thoughts about it? Are there other lines in this category that I...

    Official 2024 NFL Season Discussion

I don't entirely disagree, but how do you give MVP to the defensive front 4? Was there one standout you would have awarded it to -- seemed like they were all getting home and doing damage? I also wouldn't underestimate what Hurts did, 17/22, 220yds and 72 yards with his feet. He played smart...

I guess Brady is the GOAT of sports-ball, not language. I believe he's conflating inhuman and super-human.. Maybe he could write lyrics for Kendrick Lamar since no one will hear them.

    That was close

River sticks are awesome. They don't help when they're collapsed down and in the 'hammer holster' like mine was today when I fell. I really need some sort of memory device when I hop to the next rock -- unfurl the staff, make sure the extremities are free, etc.

    What Are You Eating?

https://www.rachaelrayshow.com/recipes/buffalo-rotisserie-chicken-casserole-dippable-dinner-rachael-ray preparing it tonight for the Superbowl tomorrow.... Always tastes better re-heated the next day. Now if only the Bills had made it, this would be the perfect pairing.

'sall good. I'm sitting in my living room with a small tumbler of the aforementioned whiskey basking in the warmth of the wood stove so thumbs-ups are very appropriate. You know the more I think about it, I think my line might have paused unnaturally for a few seconds on one of those casts so...
