    Simms Bought for $192 Million

It's not a myth and it is by no means just perception. Simms may remain committed to quality but they won't be there to inspect every production lot coming off the line more than any other firm who heads offshore staffs its own quality control team in remote facilities. You sound like the...

    Simms Bought for $192 Million

I guess you don't read customer complaints about product quality after a company moves manufacturing offshore compared to quality before the move. Even I've seen it in power tools. It's a real issue.

    Simms Bought for $192 Million

Ouch! Those are all hunting/camping products and I wonder if they're more interested in the SIMMS clothing line than the wader side of the business. They seem under-invested in outdoor clothing to compliment their other brands.

    New Classifieds Requirement

Okay, Evan, but the account I can't log into and the one we haven't figured out how I could get back to - "Tinker" - is where I'm a forum supporter. Am I supposed to become a double-donor if I have something someone might want? Free Tinker! Free Tinker! ;)

Beginner trying to find a spot

I wouldn't know, but we were talking about trout in Oregon. Portland is still in Oregon, isn't it? I never go there and it might have seceded...

Beginner trying to find a spot

I don't see any reason why not. The folks at the satellite offices are not the ODFW muckety-mucks in Salem, and so far, they haven't lied to me about where are or when the steelhead are moving Your mileage may vary, of course, but we were talking about resident trout, weren't we?

I have never seen this reel /rod concept

They attach the reel to land the fish. I didn't get it at first, either, but watch closely...

What's a budget gear rod for salmon?

You can never go wrong with a Shakespeare Ugly Stik. Abuse the bejeebers out of them and they come back for more. Other than that, I like Daiwa rods lots better than any of the newer Lamiglas' offerings.

Beginner trying to find a spot

One thing no one has said: call the ODFW Office for your area - they're listed in the fishing regulations. They're nice folks, and they'll tell you what they know - and they know more about where to find trout than anyone else.

WAPO on Yukon Salmon (not good news)

You know what else The Post reported? Rain in the PNW in September unprecedented. Rain? In the PNW? In September? Unprecedented? They don't do the finest research on what's happening along the West Coast, top to bottom.

    The Beginnings of the End…??

I agree. The coastal rivers near me are uncommonly low and warm, and the cobbles covering the bottoms have been layered in algae since mid-June. That's usually a late-August phenomenon. And now, the county plans to open the Urban Growth Boundary to multi-family housing - up to and including...

    The Beginnings of the End…??

So, the latest news on this is the tribe will add an additional 500,000 hatchery salmon into the Coquille River to try to increase their numbers, which is good since ODFW shut down all salmon fishing in the Coquille in 2021. The tribe will not start to harvest salmon until the fish counts are...

Winds knots! I will concur them......hopefully?

Go to 5x. 3x is not the right tippet for yarn. And it helps to wet the yarn ball, too. That's caused by having too much slack line out of the reel when casting. Eventually the fly line twists and makes that tangled mess. If you have a lot of line on the ground at your feet when you've...

    All around beach spinning setup?

Your personal rump was kicked or the rod failed you n some way? One of those isn't the rods; fault...

    Anyone know these rods?

I'm familiar with the Winston 8'6" 4wt BiiX, but I'm curious about the BiiX in heavier line weights - like a 6wt or 7wt. Has anyone ever fished one of them?

    All around beach spinning setup?

I liked the Okuma SST Medium action (it one of their salmon rods) until a grandkid wandered off with it. 9'6" version would routinely toss 4 ounces of lead but had more than enough feel to make catching surf perch fun.

    Final Blow to Pebble Mine?
