Condiments, Am I The Only One...

Hmm, I put them on the top and bottom so I get them from both sides.

This is cool! My daughters first fly rod was the top section of a 8' 4wt 2pc graphite rod, and built with all components I just had laying around. It was actually kind of fun to play with, and I didn't worry about her breaking it. I think it is still out in the garage somewhere.

    Oregon Coastal report

Great pictures. I love seeing coastal rivers and streams and miss them. I grew up in Tillamook, and have fished my whole life. Oddly, I and can't recall a single friend or person ever targeting steelhead. Lots of people including my father would target salmon when they were running, but I...

Kind of the consensus I have heard as well. I will report, but it will be a couple weeks. Holler through pm if I forget.

Rod Building The Rod Building Thread

I will be building a 10' 4wt and 10' 5wt on this blank as well but won't pick them up for a couple weeks. I look forward to hearing what you think.

    Elk River?

And they sometimes inhale a hooked 12-14" cutthroat!!! Walking or floating, keep a 7-8wt rigged up with something big and white or shiny for sure. If a bull slashes at the cutty you are fighting have someone else immediately throw the streamer. That pissed off bull will come back to hit the...

    Elk River?

Wading is fine and there are trails to follow even near town if I remember. But soooo much fishable water. Pontoons would be great. Float, pull over fish, work your way down....I would do this in a heart beat. I found Elk River Guiding Company and their shop super helpful. One evening...

    Elk River?

I haven't been up there in a lot of years, but my advice is don't not go :p. Make it happen.

    Recommendations on 2 Weight

Good call on the locking reel seat. For 2wt I would consider glass or older Sage TXL. I had a 2wt but ultimately a 4wt is about as small as I go. A 4wt Kabuto, TMF, Chalkstream Light, all of these are a joy to cast, and catch fish no matter of the size. Plus I am not under-gunned if a small...

    FS Sage Accel 590-4

Glad SurfnFish took this. It is a very nice rod for a great price. I came back and looked at this thread far too many times. :)

So many things I love about this report! From the setting, to the weather, to the fish, the uber eats coming in on a kayak. Just a great report and photo essay all around. Thanks for sharing. Mike

    Jackson Hole...

You had me at "Miles of bad road, high altitude and a long hike to get were the fish are dumb and gorgeous." Looks like a great trip!

day at a small put and take lake

Ive, I am convinced you could catch a dozen fish on a size 14 Halfback at any lake in the country, just about any time of the year.

Found at least one willing player...

Nope. If this had happened to me I wouldn't have been in the water long enough to get a cast off.

Found at least one willing player...

I find all the positive responses to these photos rather interesting. The only thing I take away is I don't want to be in a little rubber floaty outcast with my feet dangling like bait in the water that has these things swimming in it. I have seen to many of those videos of these things...
