    barred owls

Seems to me that I saw a reference to a permit allowing possession of these owls. Just seems a shame to kill 30,000 birds and just dump them.

    barred owls

It seems a lot of barred owls will be killed to save the spotted owl. I haven't been able to learn what they will do with the carcasses. Are the feathers something fly tyers can use? Is there value here that can used for tying or other hobbies? Can that value be used to pay for the...

Float Tube Fish Finders (and how you mount them)?

Now you're talking. But if using all those gizmos gives you pleasure then by all means do it. Having fun and enjoyment is the reason we're out there. I too fish lakes with an intermediate still water line but as I retrieve it the fly moves up through the water column and I have plenty...

Float Tube Fish Finders (and how you mount them)?

Makes me wonder how we caught fish before all this electronic bullshit was invented. Seems like you youngsters are no longer "fishing" but hunting for food. Or playing video games. Let the indignant replies begin.

    The jerky thread

Can this be done in little chief smoker? I have one I haven't used for awhile as I catch steel very seldom anymore. Or any other fish worth smoking. But I can catch steak etc at safeway. I have bags of chips I need to use up. Apple, cherry etc.

    Olympics 2024

I'm enjoying watching Ducks compete, especially in hoops where there are 5 in the women's and at least one in the men's . So far one gold in hoops and a gold in track, Hocker in the 1500. In women's hoops, one played for Spain, one for France, two for Germany, and Sabrina Ionescu for the...

Which trout would you prefer to eat

ln m;y favorite little put and take lake I catch brookies, cuts, browns and rainbows. The brookies are best, the cuts good but the browns and rainbows I leave in the lake. The taste just isn't as good. Nothing better than fresh steelhead though.

    Comparisons

Use a purple chubby during the salmon fly hatch on the D. Doesn't look anything like a salmon fly, They aint purple and they aint chubby. Works great, catches lots of trout. Doesn't answer the question posed but it's an example.

    Deschutes is toast.

The demise of the D has been going on for years since PGE installed "selective water withdrawal" towers which allowed warmer water to heat up the river. Read the Deschutes River Alliance report. The warmer water allowed algae to cover the rocks where aquatic insects that trout feed on could...

Number of stocked fish in WA lowland lakes

I've noticed that put and take lakes crowds in the early morning thin out before lunch and the rest of the day is much less busy. I like that and like that I can sleep in and have a little more solitude on the water.
