    Creekin'

Mapped out another couple miles of the same system tonight. Water was in the low 50s even with 2 weeks straight of 90°+ heat. The fish are obviously eatin' good in the neighborhood, so good in fact, that this one was built more like a Yellow Perch.

    North Cascades High Lakes

Tough year to be an alpine trout. I've run into a few high lakes here in MT that winter-killed. I talked to a bio about it and he said it's no bueno when a lake with lots of big trout keeps its lid on for too long, and doesn't have a feeder creek, as the fish use up the available Oxygen and...

    Creekin'

I need to start bringing my Nomad net creekin' for scale. The bigger net was definitely necessary today, even used it as a crowbar to snap a branch that one of those lunkers wrapped himself around in a log jam 🤣

    Creekin'

Creekin' continued... been fishing a new spot now that my old go-to is too warm. First few trips out lots of small fish but so much good water and deep holding pools I was determined to keep exploring and experimenting. Got into some 12-13" fish the other day stripping buggers on my 1 wt and...

FS Sage and G Loomis rods

I've heard that's a great rod as well. Should note that I'm down to trade either/both rods for other fishing/hunting gear that I don't need lol

FS Sage and G Loomis rods

The MT single hand quiver is finally complete, so selling off a couple rods that didn't quite make the cut: First up is a Sage Pulse 376-4, sweet little creekin' stick. Fished 2x and could pass as factory new. Matching Cordura tube with dividers included. Next is a G. Loomis IMX Pro 486-4...

    Trout and their lairs

Back in WA...this was Shangri La in real life, and one of only a handful of places I legitimately miss.

    Creekin'

I've been spending most of my evenings after work exploring the new backyard in NW Montana. Dozens of creeks/rivers you'll never read about in a magazine, and most of them overflowing with wild trout. I caught my first trout on a creek in Northern Wisconsin about 20 years ago, and to this day...

    Grill Recommendations

I did a full pellet grill of 1/3 pound burgers the other day, turned out amazing and didn't even open the sear grate. Just cranked it to 500, nice grill lines and all. Juicier than on a gas grill. Have yet to cook a steak yet, but imho a steak deserves to be cooked in a cast iron skillet anyway.

    Grill Recommendations

Best all around grill for the money right now is the Pit Boss Laredo 1000. WalMart exclusive for like $579 but more features than Traegers in the $1000 range. I spent a full weekend researching everything there is on pellet/charcoal/gas grills, and kept coming back to the Laredo 1000 for its...

Let’s start a trout spey thread

Nope not yet. I've been hiking in and fishing sections a few miles at a time doing recon for the first float. It's a mean little river and I don't want to get caught off guard

Let’s start a trout spey thread

Finally lined up my 31111 IMX Pro and got after it on the Swan River over here in MT. That river was built for swingin'. Reminds me of a mini-Sauk River in WA, with braided channels and logjams all over the place, and deep pools broken up by looooong runs. The Swan gets almost no pressure...
