    Dismantling of the USFS

Thanks...Zak. I tried "toning down" the words, but nobody listens when they are toned down. Somehow, we need to move beyond the shouting.

    Dismantling of the USFS

Yes, I am very familiar with his "work". I can only think of a handful (counting the fingers on one hand that even publish with Hanson. There have been multiple publications in peer reviewed journals that by landscape and fire ecologists that call out Hanson's "conclusions". Those numbers...

    Dismantling of the USFS

That is not true. Spotted owls have habitat requirements. They don't know what old-growth is or how it affects them. Eastern Washington and northern California had large populations of reproducing spotted owls with high mortality. Western Oregon and Washington had poor reproduction and...

    Dismantling of the USFS

The article is pretty bad. Where were you guys in the 1990's when the Forest Service was gutted by almost a 40% reduction in staffing and professional resource managers fired and replaced by political appointees?? It was even worse in BLM were the professionals were replaced by than simply...

    Lake Observations

Years ago, I almost bought a combo dissolved oxygen and temperature sensor. I would love to find a cheap one of those as well as the Ekman dredge. If you fish seriously fish chironomids you need a Ekman dredge......at least I think that until I test the theory.

    SFR AI imagining...it's fun!

All sentient animals fear death. We are not sure about AI at this time. However, in this book the author explores the concept of "what if, AI does fear death"...

    Heads-Up for Chopoka Anglers

Never underestimate a government agency to do the wrong thing. BLM might not have easement across DNR. The Forest Service had to buy easements from DNR to cross state land. Same taxpayers, but it mattered to DNR. The private timber companies just swapped easements saving both parties money...

    Rain

That is without a doubt the weirdest SWE map I have ever seen. Looks like with the exception of the Yakima basin, eastern Washington should be fine for ag and electric generation. Are there any forests left to burn in eastern Oregon??? Looks like another bad fire season for them.

    SFR AI imagining...it's fun!

Motel wall picture. Is that the future of AI for us?? Everything is "bland and safe", but doesn't move the soul??

    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

Throughout my life, I have been totally amazed by men that NEVER considered the impact of their date of marriage or conception day for their children on fishing and hunting seasons for the rest of their lives!!! The impact goes WAY beyond nine months. I had one outdoor friend that ended up...

What was your moment that inspired your transition to flyfishing?

When I realized I was a lousy gear fisherman and not catching many fish. I was working on the Boise National Forest, and living in a broken down trailer behind the bar in Pine, Idaho. The South Fork of the Boise River flowed right next to the trailer and I decided that I was going to learn to...
