    Hunting pictures

I don’t have a fancy spoon, so we’ve used a butter knife to kind of dig it out. Honestly, I’ve only done it twice now, but the reviews from the wife and kid have been raving.

Yeah, to get the bone in for Osso Bucho you need the saw.

    Hunting pictures

yeah, I never enjoyed trying to break the front shanks down on a deer or elk tbh. It’s so much nicer to freeze them bone in and then break the saw. It’s not super fun or easy to make those cuts (which is why I want a portable band saw now) but it does feel like you’re using much more of that...

Oh man, front shank. Butchers twine and a hack saw (clean band saw if you’re rich). Lots of recipes online, def worth the effort

    Drano Lake advice?

Oh sweet Jesus….be safe out there! That used to be a fun fishery, but it’s gotten wild. There was a dude that built a “balance stone” I copied with decent success years ago on the old site. Hope you have a bow and stern anchor.

    What's your fishing rig?

I’ve had so many rigs over the years it’s crazy, started with a 87 Ranger XLT my granddad gave me, the I bought a 98 XLT with the 4.0l, then a 04 Forester XTi (wish I’d never have sold that rig), then two F150s, and now my personal favorite ever….2012 Tundra lifted with all sorts of fun attatched.

How many steelhead flies do you really need?

Some of you need Jesus in your life. If it’s not December yet, it’s a purple greaseliner.

Steelhead Counts at Bonneville: 80 Years of Data

God damn we had some fun. Football made me miss most of 2001, but I’d sacrifice a really cute sea lion pup for another 2009.

SFR Portland hit 108f - hottest August temp ever recorded.

Well since steelhead are unicorns, and unicorns kept global warming at bay, and they’re all gone now…..so we’re fucked. GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD!!!

    Finally a small win

Fuck, let’s hope so. If nothing else I’m just pleased that Inslee isn’t going to get away with appointing someone who is so whole heartedly against the American conservation model.

    Walleye on the fly

I also can not say enough about how helpful electronics are…we upgraded to a Garmin UHD 9” head unit with the sonar/clearvu/sidevue/lakevu the whole damn thing….what a world of difference it makes. I’m not sure we would have caught a single fish yesterday at Rossie without it. It was choppy...

    Walleye on the fly

So we’ve been out three times for eye since I posted and I have a question to run by OP….one I asked myself when I was first trying to get these bottom huggers(no disparagement, as I also love to hug a good bottom….see what I did there??) What’s your why for using fly gear to catch these...

    Walleye on the fly

Fwiw, I fish them with gear a lot in the lower Columbia and in Roosevelt, and it pays to mark spots and fish slow with a bottom walker/worm harness of some type. I’ve tried targeting them with sinking lines and booby style leeches, not a whole lot of luck, but I’ve only given it a half hearted...

    Carp question

One of my biggest fly fishing accomplishments was targeting and catching a 20ish” mirror on a Big C flat close to town. I’ll see if I can find the pic, but that was the smallest carp I’ve ever seen. I don’t carp as much as I used to, but I’m going to get out here for my first effort of the...

CA Seals and Sealions eating all of WA Springers?

And yet they have been doing it in AK for centuries. Traditionally for millennia. I’ll stop posting, you can all get back to hugging your seals. That’s a pretty patronizing statement there, Charles. Have you hunted your entire life? Is the culture of deeply embedded in your families...

CA Seals and Sealions eating all of WA Springers?

It’s not insulting, but it does lack an understanding that hunters by and large are safe in their outdoor endeavors. Think of the countless hours in duck blinds, in the deer woods, etc with very few accidents. I realize that hunting is inherently dangerous, however. Do you really think that...
