    MA 9 days restriction

I'm lucky being retired and living only 2 miles from a great Salmon beach. August isn't that far away and I haven't had a lot of luck early in the season anyway. I will be out on Thursday morning though. Negative tide should make for an interesting morning.

    Cooking Crab

I ended up using my spaghetti cooker which has a steamer basket. I used a combination of beer and water and steamed for 10 minutes. Came out good.

    Cooking Crab

I've always boiled my crab especially when I have several to cook. I sometimes clean them first and other times just toss them in whole. Today I came home with only one lone crab and considered steaming instead of boiling since it seemed a waste of time to start my outdoor burner for one crab...

    Fly Selection/Pass & Lone Lake

I've had fairly good luck at both lakes over the last few years starting the day with a size 12 Simi-seal leech in blood red or black. I will size up or down sometimes or switch to a damsel fly nymph or Stillwater nymph in size 12 or 14. Do any of you have any flies that work well for you? Do...

    Pass Lake Fly Lines

I thought split shot was not allowed at Pass Lake. If it is that is an option.

    2023 Bluegill/Crappie/Sunfish showoff thread

For those of us in Western Washington (Whidbey Island) where are some good blue gill lakes within reasonable driving distance? I miss the farm ponds and small lakes of my Native Nebraska.

    NFR Water in Your Whisky?

You can do what I do and never add water to your whiskey that way they all taste different. I do admit to adding a drop or two to barrel strength bourbon from time to time.

    Pass Lake Fly Lines

I probably throw the same fly 75% of the time. I have about 3 favorites that usually work at Pass and also at Lone Lake.

    Pass Lake Fly Lines

I need to check out the 4wt sink lines. I have a really nice 4 wt fiberglass rod that I rarely get to use. Thanks for the tip.

    Pass Lake Fly Lines

I use a floating line at Pass for chironomid fishing under an indicator usually after my arm is tired from casting a sinking line for a couple hours. I have caught more fish on the sinking line but that is probably because I use it most of the time. There is something relaxing about just...

    Pass Lake Fly Lines

I have always fished Pass Lake with a type 5 or 6 full sinking line. I have been fishing the lake for the last 9 years since I moved to the area and have almost always been successful. I am trying to convince my neighbor and fishing partner that he needs got get his of his floating line and...

    Pass Lake-Boat/Float Tube?

My neighbor wants go fishing with me on Pass Lake with a small row boat. His age prevents him from using a float tube. I have only fished Pass with a float tube or inflatable pontoon. Would it be advisable to have two anchors on the boat to keep it more stable in the water? I can pretty much...

    Pass Lake observation report

Lots of cars in the lot when I went by today (Monday). Anyone fished Pass recently? I may try and get up there later this week.

    Split Shot

When I was still in Nebraska the game warden would run the fly through his/her shirt. If it pulled out a fiber it wasn't pinched down.

    Split Shot

The times I fish chironomids are usually when I am using my type 6 sinking line and I notice a hatch. I just use about 4 feet of tippet and the hemostat method to determine the depth. The line sinks pretty well but I'm never how far the fly sinks below the end of the line. I usually do a really...

    Split Shot

Are there area where split shot is allowed or not allowed here in Washington? Google search turned up nothing. I have been using a swivel when chironomid fishing but was considering trying a split shot to get the fly down deeper.

    Cranberry Lake - Whidbey

I have wondered if dry flies might work in this lake especially along the shore vegetation. I may give it a try on my next float tube venture.

    Cranberry Lake - Whidbey

I've fished the lake in float tube several times. Leeches seem to work the best like you said. I have caught some perch in the weed beds, Trout seem to be in deeper water.

    Deep water indicator technique (mine)

I use both tippet rings and swivels depending on what I grab first. Both work. I use a bobber stopper to mark depth.
