Annual Gorge trip for carp and...ok, one shad.

You know, the first time I went to the Bulldog instead of Bob's I was like "what am I doing?", but I'm glad I did. No shade to Bob. It's good too!

Annual Gorge trip for carp and...ok, one shad.

I headed down to the gorge early Friday morning to be on one of my favorite carp spots by 11. It didn't take long to catch a few nice ones, but then it got tough. The bite definitely slowed up. I ventured all over the flat only to find some bluegill and pumpkinseeds doing their thing. This...

    Flats in Oregon!?

My scale is, in fact, janky. :ROFLMAO: It took one little brief dip in a carp pond last year and now I have to disconnect/reconnect a battery to get it to turn on. It's still accurate tho! Carp are hard to tell weight and pregnant carp even tougher! They're like bowling balls.

    Flats in Oregon!?

That was fun man! What Randy didn't mention is that a couple of his several caprs were big! A 17 and a 19! In fact, that's the 17 he's holding. Here's another angle of it. It was one of the nicest looking carp I've ever seen. And yes, some beefy bluegill. Hell, he was so hot he got carp...

    NBA 2025-26

I was gonna say. Fox is in his 9th season. He definitely could've made a better play. He said he thought he had a layup. OG probably got away with a blocking foul, but they're not gonna call that with 10 seconds left. Crazy stuff.

    NBA 2025-26

Wemby had a bad turnover at the end of game 1 as well. Dribbled off his own foot. And then Brunson hit the clutch fade away. Brunson actually leads the series in turnovers, but he's a full-time ball handler. Wemby has WAY too many for no more than he handles. He has to clean that up.

    Weird shad numbers

Flows have stayed pretty steady, but lower than normal. Warmer than normal. 2022 was high water. From my notes- 2022 (June 21 & 22) water level was between 81.80 ft and 82.77 ft at The Dalles Flow was over 350k. This year, like the last couple, is only 200k right now (when it should actually be...

Shoutout to capr! Seriously though...not looking good. Give trout, especially in places like the Snoqualmie forks, Cedar, Green and Yak.

I get that, but these Knicks are so resilient man. That SA turnover was bad.

    Weird shad numbers

I'm headed for my annual shad & carp adventure in the gorge and I don't think I've ever seen this- I have fun with shad, but I'm completely ok with fewer shad. Just hope it's not a pre-cursor for any bad salmon & steelhead returns. Spring kings weren't great and lamprey and sockeye definitely...

I almost turned it off after that challenge that not only negated the foul on Wemby, but instead gave it to Towns for supposedly hooking. He did the best job ever of NOT hooking. Wemby fouled him a couple times on the drive before the shot. Original foul was correct. I like Wemby, but the...

Also, context is everything- Growing the Cotton (~99% of the footprint): The vast majority of this water is used for irrigation to grow the cotton crop, as well as natural rainfall absorbed by the plants.

    Another Two Fly Question

If my top fly is a balanced leech, the knot to the leech is an improved clinch. If the top fly is a mid or a 60 degree jig, the knot is a non-slip loop. Although I often get lazy with the jigs and just use the imp clinch. If the top fly is a balanced leech, I tie the bottom fly leader around...

Very Memorable Experiences in your Life

I'll go with 2 positives that shaped my recreational life. And the cool thing is both memories have pics and both are in the same driveway, only about 5 feet from each other. The first one is the best toy present I've ever had. Not sure any future toy, whether a present or a purchase will come...
