    SFR Fly Rod Repair Services?

I had one break on a 6wt and was able to replace it myself with a part I bought off a rod building site. Worth a try if you can't find someone to do it.

    What's Catching You Fish?

The little 6" musky fly I posted a while ago was castable on a 6wt and swam well enough that this guy ate it on the first cast.

    NFR Cheap trail cam

Be a bit careful with the cheap ones on Amazon. The one I bought has poor video quality - especially at night. Also chews through batteries much faster than my low end Browning models.

Big game saltwater 60 degree jig hook?

I think I am going to try the SA258 bendback instead of a jig hook.

    What's in your vise?

After watching Randy on Friday I couldn't wait for the 55mm shanks I ordered to show up. Tied a little one with the 35mm jig shanks I picked up from Spawn last year. Maybe the bent shank will result in some interesting action. Should have put a couple more feathers in the tail?

A couple '26 goals: fish new spots and catch new species - Pyramid Lake

My retirement date is May 4th and my campervan is very close to being done - it has been usable for a couple years but no more shop time needed. With all that free time, I will hit quite a few spots in Oregon that are more than a day trip from Bend. I plan to buy a Washington license and get...

A couple '26 goals: fish new spots and catch new species - Pyramid Lake

Yeah. I was thinking about this on the drive home. I am sure this is the best strategy, but damn it is painful

if you are only fishing one rod at a time you don't need the 2 rod permit

A couple '26 goals: fish new spots and catch new species - Pyramid Lake

Thanks. I was quite proud of my little seat! The ladder I bought had a top with all kinds of holes to hold tools. Very uncomfortable to sit on so I built that seat the weekend before the trip. It was supposed to have a rod holder, but I forgot the holder part on the bench in my shop - ugh...

and so frustrating not being able to get them to eat! Most of the fish we saw were porpoising 50+ feet out. I only saw a few fish swim by in shallow water - one working the flat above the drop rose 3 times to who knows what. The ultimate would be a day where you could site fish them on the...

A couple '26 goals: fish new spots and catch new species - Pyramid Lake

I had no idea before the trip. One of the guys said "nice Pilot" to one of my fish. Seems the tribe plants Summits and the feds plant Pilots. Here is one link to some info: About Pyramid Lake I looked at some pics and the bright ones all had fin clips. Seems some Pilots can also get...

That feeling when you get some new fly fishing stuff

Can't wait to use this stuff. I also bought the sink 8 version for my 8wt to use at Pyramid. Effortless distance casting.

A couple '26 goals: fish new spots and catch new species - Pyramid Lake

:ROFLMAO: I had confidence I was in the game for about 4 hours out of 4 days of fishing. The last morning for example. I was stripping flies for 40 minutes without a bump. Switched to the indicator. The current was pushing it to the bank. I let it sit on the edge of the drop for a bit and...
