Just a fact, the photos I put up where from Sealions eating smolt releases from the Kalama, that the hatchery just released per the hatchery manager. Same on the Cowlitz but the seals also were eating adults. The smolt are an attractor and I am assuming to over population of sealions and seals...

Everyone take a day off from trout fishing and show up to the river with a few 3/4 oz jigs and tag these critters for killing baby salmon

Update, more URGENT situation than just overpopulated seals and sealions eating Columbia salmon and smelt. They are in tributaries like Kalama and all the way to barrier dam on Cowlitz. Why? They are feasting on springer smolt releases from the hatcheries! No springers in a couple years...

These critters are upriver with no commercial netting, which the tribes usually do a good job at least shooting fireworks at them. WDFW still enforces trapping moles, so highly doubt they would turn blind eye to a seal. I just don't ever recall such a mass of seals and sealions upriver...

Guess the Feds and WDFW will just let them eat all the fish so they can starve. I've just never seen this many and in the tributaries.

Many Sealions spotted today Kalama up to Madrow. 100 Seals in Cowlitz near Kelso, and seals all the way to barrier dam. Goodbye Springers. Is this a overrun by California? Does WDFD even have a clue how to manage this overpopulation (they are experts at harvest!)

Exactly! Not sure how many survive in that lilly algae lake, but why put in monstrosities to C&R. I don't think fish noses grow back.

What's wrong with this hatchery. Trout that look like noses cut off for tags, ripped jaws, tumors.
