This is my first year fishing up here with pinks and the river and its already a little on the annoying side. They don't fight so much as grab your fly and sit there. Had more on that, thankfully, let themselves off the hook. Did catch this little guy feasting below some spawners though.

I haven't tried Fidalgo at all because the beach down the street on NE Whidbey is so good. That said, like Jim mentioned, its time of year dependent, I haven't really tried for them much around now because, like the trout I assume, I'm usually going up the Skagit to chase salmon.

Just to be contrary I find that the LONG rods are easier to learn on than the short ones. The long rods force a slower cast in my experience.
