    March Madness '25

I’m a longtime Beaver fan, snd I am inclined toward underdogs in almost every single tournament in any sport. But for some reason, I really like Duke. What is wrong with me?

    Hooked up!

Shad fishing at Bonneville, Oregon side. Trying to get my lead-head, barbed "fly" out as far as I could, and then down in the water column. I'm a lefty and the wind was blowing upstream. Recipe for disaster. On what turned out to be the premature last cast of the day, on a backcast, I saw this...

    Safety

This has been a very useful thread to me. Thanks for all your experience-based thoughts. I fish mainly areas/lakes that I know very well, but I fish solo a lot and I know that the older I get the easier I could get into trouble.

    NYC (NFR) and the Bahamas

My wife and I took a trip to the Bahamas, specifically to the Governor’s Harbour area on Eleuthera. The trip started out in New York City, visiting family. I had a lot of solo time, so I decided to take in some of the usual sites. This is the exact spot where, on December 16, 1985, John...

    Bonefish line suggestions please

Folks- Thank you for your perspectives. I had a wonderful member of the community offer me one of their spare lines for the trip. It is so awesome and it really made my day. I will post about the trip as long as my fishing flailings are not too humbling!

    Bonefish line suggestions please

I have one shot for bonefish, next month in the Bahamas, probably my only trip down there. Maybe I'll get hooked and go back, who knows. I want to buy a 8 wt line that I can use there and then bring back to use as a standard 8 wt dry line. Suggestions?

    Swung one up

Steelheading, what a gig. Ice cold mornings, get there very early to be the first on the water, and so often it is a no-bite or one-bite event. Today I got one bite, a strong hatchery buck that made it a great day. Caught it at the bottom of the last hole I was going to fish.

    Puget Sound

I fished earlier this week, drove around and saw all kinds of conditions, including iced over water! Fishing for me was OK, but these are always enjoyable trips. A few pics: The first ones are from my hotel morning, evening, and the next morning. The last one is late in the day on Wednesday.

I'm retiring - today is my last day

Sage advice, Ive of Ione! Nicely stated, RCF as well. Good stuff up and down this thread. As is usual, I don't take good advice. I am still working at 67, but I do like my job OK. Maybe 2 more years.

    New year reds

I can't tell you how bad I want to go do this. I went a few times when opportunity presented itself and I loved it. Haven't been down there in years.

    San Diego recommendations

I am pretty sure I stayed at that Dana Hotel one time and had meetings in a bay view conference room. I watched dudes in belly boats catch quite a few fish. I worked it from the shore early morning and did OK myself, 7 wt + clousers.

A nicely shaped wiper- the younger ones are kinda lanky. These fish are really pretty in the water.

Asking for thoughts on the C & F Fly Threaders

I have the black one in the pic posted by Crusty. It has never really been useful for me, but maybe I haven't given it a chance.
