Often I wonder if color matters. Seems like some days they chase…and other days they do not. I’d LIKE to believe that, like with the dry fly, color matters if even for the lowly WB. Son!

The hook has to hold a true pig. My hooks are good and meaty- but not too meaty as to prevent easy penetration. I wish the selection was better for straight eye hooks as they fish better on swing.

Curious what the MT and ID guys like for a favorite Wooly Bugger. I like swinging flies and find that WB’s are among my favorite. And, I wonder if a you guys have a favorite Baby Brown WB pattern.

I have that rod in the 3wt and it fishes best with a 300 grn Scandi, 270 grn Skagit. Would imagine the 4wt might need a bit heavier …350?

240 Scandi for SAGE ONE 2wt..? I have 270grn on the thing now and it’s a launcher. WILL I lose launch ability with 240grn?

The lowly green WB is pretty much all I use anymore for swinging- it’s deadly. I use 2.7 and 3.1 depending on the size of fly. Tungsten.

Boy that’s a good one. Rarely for sale. I have this exact rod and I too agree it is my favorite on foot dry fly rod. It’s the pointiest rod I’ve got and the smoothest. Not gutless what so ever. No comparison between this one and ‘shaft of Moses’ IMHO.

You can throw the same flies with a 2wt spey and in the same weather conditions. The head and sink tip of a 2wt have enough mass to turn your flies over- almost too much mass honestly. Casting 80 feet with a two weight is as easy as casting 80 with a 3 or 4 weight.

No need to go to a 4wt trout spey. You really will gain very little other than likely a longer, heavier rod that will just blunt the pleasing fight of a trout.

I have two 3wt rods. One feels more like a light steelie rod than a trout rod. Plan to use a 2wt on any and all size rivers that warrant two hand casting with tips and streamers. I like a trout rod that feels like a trout rod. Im confident that I can fish a 2wt at the same distance and in the...

Might be a tad late to reply. I have this rod. Scout 270grn with a light iMOW tip- it sails. I can shoot about 35 feet of mono with ease. Haven’t figured out a floating tip for it yet
