    My latest rod

Gorgeous, Mike. I'd love to see some of your work at this summer's get together, if I can make it. I remember when I first met you so many years ago at a Hi Lakers meeting. You were brand new to rodbuilding and you were so excited to show me your work (as if I knew anything about it).

Where to buy 3-Piece Rod Tube

Thanks Ron. I'll post a photo when I get a chance. I can't wait to try it out. I also snagged a really nice used silk line for your Edwards rod (which I've had for almost two years and haven't yet fished). I'll post that, also.

Where to buy 3-Piece Rod Tube

Guys, thanks again for the help. The deal is, I bought a W&M Granger trade rod called an "Old Faithful Challenger" rod, in the 8ft 5wt size, which is the exact same taper as the Granger 8040. Since the rod was a less expensive trade rod it came with a cardboard tube instead of an aluminum tube...

Thanks PN. This is what I have - are you suggesting I cut both of these leaders back and add 10 lb tippet?

    Bass Leaders

Hello, I will be doing to fishing for bass this season and I'll be using a 7wt rod (I do have an 8wt, however). I will be using a lot of streamers and some bass bugs, both topwater and sinking. None of my flies are huge, I would say moderate in size. I do not have dedicated bass leaders and...

    Coffee talk

Several years ago I was in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for my niece's wedding. The hostess of the place we stayed at had her staff roast coffee beans every morning for coffee. They used Coleman- type stoves and roasted the beans on steel sheets while moving the beans around with wooden sticks. It...

    Free bamboo kit

My father brought one of these back from "occupied Japan" in the early 1950's. That was the first cane rod I cast, probably around 1968. It lasted one day on Chikamin Creek near the Chiwawa River Road, before it broke. It simply snapped in two on a forward stroke. I felt so bad!

    Tying Soft Hackle Flies

Hello, I'm going to start tying some old fashioned wet flies and I will start with the classic Partridge & Orange pattern. It looks pretty straightforward, but I'm not sure what size hook to use. I've not really fished these old fashioned wet flies much and I'm unsure which size would be the...
