    USGS ''New Website" assistance

I am looking for assistance with the revamped USGS streamflow website. I can't figure out how to save sites I have selected as favorites. If I check the box to select the sites I want to list as favorites, they are not saved as the next time I go to the site none are listed. Does anyone have...

Spare holster for a wading staff?

I went to a local canvas shop with my wading staff. I had them custom make a holder for it in Ballistic Nylon. The cost was about $ 20

    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

A young couple with a “just married” sign on their car pulls into a remote fishing camp. They talk to the owner and he gives them a cabin which is not close to the others. A few minutes later, the groom comes back to the office and asks to take out a boat for fishing. The owner says “I thought...

Shad fishing in the Delaware River in NJ (NY Times)

    Drowned Quills

I saw them at my local shop. I thought the material to be too narrow to be useful. There is a "quick tie" video on YouTube using the synthetic for Blue Quills, but as I tie the fly as a parachute the quick tie recipe does not work for me. I do use Antron for the post instead of calf as I find...

    Drowned Quills

That is a great tip. I have never heard of that before. I have soaked quills for 50*+ years of tying, but will try the wax method you suggested. I guess if it works in the "bikini" area it will work on herls. A Brazilian wax for Peacock. Who wudda thunk!

    Drowned Quills

I was tying up some Blue Quills last week and had soaked the stripped peacock quills in water to soften before use. I forgot that I had left the quills in water. It has been about 5 days since they were soaking. They seem ok, but I am wondering if I can dry them out for use later, or will...

    Drugs and Salmon (WAPO)

This article outlines the possible (probable?) impact of human psychoactive drugs on Salmon and other migrating fish. It is a share so it should work. https://wapo.st/3G6MBUK

Heart break hotel (stories of despair)

I was up in Labrador at a lodge. I had taken a few Brook Trout in the 6–7-pound range. I hooked into a very very large fish and saw that it was much bigger than anything I had ever caught. After about 10 minutes on the hook, it came off. The fish straightened out a # 8 Prince Nymph. I...

Why in the world does WA still have paper-only fishing licenses?

Personally, I am ok with paper license. Local New England states all have on-line purchase and you can download and/or print. I always save a copy and then print as I never take my phone on the water. First thing is that I don't want any calls/texts/etc. and the next issue is the lack of...

    Why Do You Troll?

On fly fishing waters in Maine, you can fish from a boat that is drifting with the wind, or anchored, but if the boat is under any kind of power (engine/motor/human) it is considered trolling and can get you into trouble with a Warden if he/she believes that you are using the power to pull the...

    Why Do You Troll?

Not a fan of trolling, but that's just my dry fly snobbery In Maine, trolling can be an issue on fly fishing only waters. Aggressive wardens have been known to ticket canoeists and others who are simply paddling from place to place and let their fly hang in the water.

Input wanted on Driftboat Electric Motor Install

I put a 30lb thrust motor on my 14 ft Sportspal canoe many years ago. It was something that I did not know I needed until I installed it. I am fine with paddling, but the motor gets me fishing much faster. I have a deep cycle battery that I bought at Walmart about 6 years ago. It is still...
