    College Football 2023

I was at the Apple Cup and was really impressed by him. I thought he outplayed Penix in that game as he had some nice throws into tight spaces including one that was a perfectly placed ball at the end of the 1st half for a TD. I wouldn’t be shocked if he sneaks into the draft.

    Why do you fly fish?

To me it has always been an outlet. I was lucky to not have it rough growing up, but still went through tough times like all humans. In seasons where things aren’t going well, fishing will always be there. Almost as a way to get away from the world. For fly fishing specifically, I picked it up...

Non-Fly Jig Twitching - What you all doin!?

Question for all you jig twitchers: Do you guys find scent to be effective? I have made some hoochie jigs for myself and am wondering if scent can make a difference. The reason why I am asking is because I’ve never really used scent, outside of trolling for Kokanee or trout. When I use...

Petition: Statewide Protection of Resident Forms of Wild Steelhead

Closing our streams isn’t gonna do anything. All of the streams that have been closed for the purposes of letting fish runs recover have still been closed for decades and the fish still aren't back. The proposed rules aren't gonna save any fish. Instead, it will just lead to more closures and...

    College Football 2023

I was in the student section as always for the Huskies game today. It is my last year there and today was something special. My ears are still ringing. 131 decibels on the big board decibel meter. It was fun rushing the field too and bro hugging random strangers. I thought Oregon played a...

    NFR 10/8/23 Whidbey Island earthquake

I was sitting on my dining table doing some studies and it felt like someone bumped into the table. My lazy cat drinking his water on the other hand didn’t notice a thing.

    Pink Year

Im in your same boat. I’m 21 and the biggest salmon I’ve seen was probably the 29 pound king some guy landed off the shore one day when I was probably 8 years old. That fish seemed the same size as me at the time, so anything bigger is unimaginable to me. Hopefully the genes in these fish are...

    Pink Year

I don’t have a fish biology background like others on here do. But in theory I would think so, especially if the population of pinks is dense. Pinks would have a lot of overlap in spawn timeframe with both species. From my observation, sockeye and chinook are in these streams from the first big...

    Pink Year

A large pink year usually means pinks being seen colonizing new waters. It looks like there are lots of pinks being spotted in the streams in the Lake Washington/Sammamish basin. I’ve seen photos and heard about sightings of a school of 100 of them there. They are being seen in the same places...

    Too many humpies daddy!

Your report shows what fishing is all about. Kids will remember these types of moments forever. I still fondly remember fishing with my family when I was 7 during the 10 million humpy run in 2009. I’m sure they will look back at this year in the same way.

Regulation change for fly only water rivers only

Looks like WDFW just shut down the whole Stillaguamish system citing low chinook returns, effective Sept. 27...

A heron waiting for loose salmon eggs drifting downstream.

    Pink Year

Just came back from getting skunked on an Admiralty Inlet beach. The humpies are still in fishable numbers, which must be the latest I’ve ever seen them still around in large enough numbers out there. The fish still are chrome, fresh fish too. So don’t give up looking for them quite yet!

    Puget Sound

How does a bright chum taste? Is the meat lean like a humpy?

    Best moment in rock history?

Way before my time, but probably Ozzy biting the head off a bat.

    Puget Sound

Ocean run coho are starting to slowly show up. Seen a few caught on the local beaches this past weekend. One guy next to me claimed to have caught a clipped 16lber yesterday. Have also still seen a few kings porpoising around here and there, so it also could have been one of those.

    What's in your vise?

Came back from the pet store and just realized that I have all that I need for my next trip up to Alaska to fish for those big rainbows

SFR Fishing Foods (food near fishing)

Cle Elum bakery. I always stop by and buy a dozen cookies when I'm in the area. My family has been going there for 50 years and almost nothing about that business has changed. On the way back, we always go to Mountain High Hamburgers in Easton, which is probably in my top 3 favorite burger...

When were the “good old days” of salmon fishing

I've met people who used to fill up their punch cards from November (winter runs) through July (summer runs), up until around 10 years ago or so. Haven't heard of one caught off the beaches in a few years. But last year I saw a big one (30" or so) jump clear out of the water when I was walking...
