My little air popper roasts slower now than over the summer, for sure. I was hitting a darker medium roast in about 5.5 minutes today. In August that would have taken 4 to 4.5 minutes.

Been working through a couple pounds of SM 10-speed blend. It’s billed as being super flexible; light to dark, brewed coffee or espresso. My first impression was kinda meh. But now that it’s cold in the mornings and staying dark, I appreciate a good, right down the middle cup.

    Playing Live Music 2025

Maybe my last gig of the year last night at the Squirrel Tree near Stevens Pass. They ran our promo photo through an AI filter. Creepin’ me out! We arrived as the rain was really letting go. Got our gear into our designated area and sat down to eat. The prime rib special was excellent and...

    Mixed bag day with Troutpocket

I’m sure others do it but I’ve never seen another float tube out there in bass central. Fishing slow and picking apart the structure is a lot of fun!

    What's Catching You Fish?

Well, unless we’re gonna put a pin in this thread and lock it up after that ridiculous bull, someone needs to lower expectations. So I’ll get us started :geek: Found some spooky late October spiny rays in central WA. They liked my V1 spawn tail jig. Next batch I want to bulk up a bit.

    Fave jig hook for leeches?

Ahrex hooks here. The black/reds are on #8’s with 3.8mm slotted beads. The white one is on a #10 with a standard 2.8mm bead on a straight pin. I find the straight pin helps with keeping the leech horizontal but I don’t think the fish really care.

How did you end up in your career?

I was always gonna do something with fish. A quote from a professor at one point describing his path also fit my situation…”I needed to find a positive outlet for my pathological preoccupation with fishing“. I had fish tunnel vision at 10 but didn’t find my path until I was at UW School of...

    September chironomids

He’s 17 and a junior in high school. His first trip with this group was at 4. It’s the only fishing he does on a regular basis.

    September chironomids

The annual dads and kids trip has been reduced to a dads (2) and kid (1) trip this year. What teen wouldn’t want to come spend a weekend camping in coulee country with limited communication and lots of hungry trout? Apparently it’s not the adventure it used to be for some that were regulars. But...

    Legs on mids?

Cool! Looks to be a mix of stages in the photos. The legs make me think chironomid emergers and adults. I see plenty of pupae as well.

    Lake craft recommendation

I don’t think either of these has been mentioned yet. https://floatplus.com/ https://supercat.us/ My Supercat 60 is 16 years old and my favorite craft for smaller lakes and anything requiring walk in access. I’m hoping to get another 5 years out of it. Every boat is a trade off. If I were...

For the dark roast people, Costco members can get $10 off 4 pounds of Mayorga Cafe Cubano right now. Not sure if it’s in the warehouses but I ordered it online. Try it in cold brew!

It’s always fun to run my beans through a good espresso machine. The SM Ethiopiques blend made good shots and remarkable cappuccino. Highly recommended!
