Yeah I need the packing straps. I’m short so should be plenty to brace my legs against. Thanks man!

    Frameless Pontoon Boats?

I ordered the fish cat cruzer but am a little worried about rowing without having foot braces for leverage. Anyone have experience with this? I could send it back and get something with foot rests

    Frameless Pontoon Boats?

Anyone have experience with frameless pontoon boats or float tubes designed with oars? I’m looking at the bucks bags roughneck or the outcast fish cat cruzer, both of which are basically large float tubes with oars. What are peoples experiences with these particular boats or boats of this...

    Barb vs. No Barb

Lip is true. Dick would be very painful but how the f#$% could someone hook themselves in the dick?

    Barb vs. No Barb

I hooked myself in the hand when I was 5ish but never since then. As far as pain goes, a finger is probably the most painful place I can think of.

    Barb vs. No Barb

I haven't done a lot of fishing for bones but when I have, I'm almost positive I was using barbed flies.

    Barb vs. No Barb

A biostatistician would be great if I was designing a study but for the differences in hookups, keeping fish on, etc, I'll take a physicist. I'm surprised by how many people prefer barbless

    Barb vs. No Barb

I've got a physics professor that's a pretty smart dude, I'm gunna ask him what he thinks! Not as definitive as a research project but I do have some trust in this dudes opinion. I wish University's gave a shit about fishing, if they did we could get a real high tech study going to solve these...

    Barb vs. No Barb

Yeah I was fishing with the wind at my back both times and it changed ever so slightly and blew my fly into me. Surprisingly, it really didn't hurt. The initial impact was very forceful but the hook itself didn't cause any sharp pain.

    Barb vs. No Barb

Tell me about it. I've hooked myself in the back of the head twice in the fifteen years I've been at it. A good double haul with a shooting head line and a barbed fly with dumb bell eyes is no fun when it hits you in the back of the head. My dad got them out but the first time he spent 10...

    Barb vs. No Barb

In a world where no regulations on barbs were imposed (hypothetical world) would you fish barbed or barbless hooks? What goes into your thinking? If I can fish with a barb, I like to fish with one. I feel a little better knowing my fly is barbed when I hook a large fish (particularly fish that...

Hook Model and Size for Salty Salmon

Out of habit I used to tie all of my salty salmon flies using Gamakatsu SC15 size 2. That's what my dad always used so that's what I used . I still use em but in the last few years have started tying more of em on Gamakatsu B10S size 4. Any legitimacy to my "bigger is better" superstition...

Hook Model and Size for Salty Salmon

What model and size hook do people like to use for coho, pinks, and the occasional king if the fishing Gods bless you with one? I tend to like using the largest hook size I can get away with. I don't see any downside to having more hook. The more gap the better. Nick

First Fly that you tied and Caught a Fish With

Yeah man! I live down in Burnsville now but before moving down here I lived in St. Paul for a few years. Did you fish while you were in MN? Your profile says "seeking smallmouth bass" so i guess you hit the sippi, Saint Croix, rum, etc?

That pill bottle says "White Bear Lake". You grew up in MN or just bought your drugs from there?

First Fly that you tied and Caught a Fish With

The first fly I tied and caught a fish with was a pattern of my dads. Corbett lake, 2007ish. I was up in the bow of the boat and after I landed the fish my dad told some dude rowing by about it.

First Fly that you tied and Caught a Fish With

I used to have the terrible habit of tying over the eye. Thank god fish will still eat an ugly fly.

First Fly that you tied and Caught a Fish With

The first fly I ever tied and caught a fish with was a damsel imitation. Was fishing a lake up in BC. What was the first fly you tied and caught a fish with? What were you fishing for?
