Sunset at the beach

Black-bellied Plovers, though one looked a bit different, I’m not confident enough to say it was different that the other couple hundred of them (left bird in first photo, middle bird in second photo)

Birch bay is pretty much all mudflats, except for the southern portion along the state park. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone fishing there. There is a creek that feeds into the bay that gets some returning fish, though not in big numbers.

Here’s the Ruddy Turnstone I found this morning in a large flock of Black Turnstones. It’s not a great picture (phone through spotting scope) but it’s a new bird for, so I’m excited about it 👍

This is my last week before I have to go off to work, so the bird pictures will start slowing down. But it’s not time for that yet. I went to a couple beaches this morning. At the first I found some horned larks on the path, which was cool as I’d seen some a week or so ago up in the mountains...

Went birding in the San Juans today. Notable birds not pictured include marbled murrelets and red-necked grebes. Brandt’s Cormorants Common Murres (so many of them)
