I have an older SA Streamer express line with a 250 grain head I'd bet would shoot off that 10' 5 wt. Only problem is in SRC cold water you really need to stretch this line out before hand or tangle city

A 4 pc Russ Peak spinning rod around 7' for summer backpacking trips would be sublime.

Looked to me like the show was shot on a early spring day? Think the fishing is always tough then. My thoughts are in a prime time setting Mid May - mid June and warmer water temps I'd cater to their aggressive nature & strip small baitfish patterns to stimulate strikes

Just checking Google maps, that lake is 7.4 hours from my place. Well with range for a 4 day May trip. And can keep 1 of those fish per day, the bigger fattest ones might be interesting on the smoker. Guess I better look into a Canadian trout license.

A few times and always when fishing solo I've seen strange marks on remote sandbars. I'd say widely spaced duck footed tracks with a deep groove between them. Almost like the ManBearPig was just ahead of me, corking me on all the good holes & dragging his huge nuttsack.

This trout is currently stocked in over 40 BC lakes in the Caribou region. Looks like a winner at least up North, with many outstanding traits we look for in a Stillwater setting. Think they will find there way down South? Enjoy

The book in question was published in 1962, most gentlemen fly fishers were possibly still using bamboo? The way I see it fiberglass was the new wonder material, and Russ Peak was building them This timeline with graphite still off on the horizon, possibly Boron was making inroads in the mid...

Was he the master of high quality fiberglass rods? I remember reading about his work in my Trout Fisherman's bible, author Dan Holland spoke highly of his work. c/22

I'm running the Simms Flyweight Wading Boots - Vibram Sole. Mine have the stud kit installed. Picked them up a few years ago at the Spawn fly shop world headquarters down in ilwaco. Maybe 2020? I've only worn them on a handful of outings but the grip is good IMO. Mine have this style of hooks...

Agree. The majority of the fresh April Sol Duc fish were smallish hens of 5-7 lbs. Did see what I'd consider a true Spring Buck on June 1st one year, the Duc was low & clear as we dropped into a big long crystal clear pool it was laying right at the head & we spotted each other at the same...

My April's were mostly on the Sol Duc in the Lower runs. We were by-catching down running rebrite hens as we where throwing bait in those days... mid 1990's -2k Spent time on Queets & upper Quinault too
