    Spey Bros

I don't think I ever ran into a SpeyBro on the Thompson. Everything we did up there was practical and posers were quickly weeded out. I remember leaving the back window down on my old Isuzu Rodeo and the dude in the passengers seat always had a couple reels in his lap as we traveled from run...

    Spey Bros

And the longer the better . . . since we're exposing our fully rigged rods to the public, gotta make sure they're above average as well. 15' minimum! ;)

    Crappie….

True dat . . . same for a lot of WA counties. And I'm OK with that - the 'known' Crappie haunts in my neighborhood have far less fish dying of old age than those not on the WDFW list. ;) And there are other ways to determine if there are Crappie in one of your local lakes. Check out other...

Public Service - Great deal on Winter Wader pants

Nothing wrong with the Redingtons as pure wader pants. I was looking for a lined, lightweight, and water resistant pant with doubled as wader pants. Apples and Oranges ;)

    Hope your day was better.

Challenging times Rob, but glad to hear that your wife is OK and it sounds you got support you needed and met some good people in the process of recovery. And welcome back to WA. Are you back to the Gorge? Somebody better warn the fishies. ;)

Public Service - Great deal on Winter Wader pants

Good observation Wayne - the side zipper is plastic and I hadn't thought much about the possibility it might put extra wear on the waders. I'll have to keep an eye on the waders to see if it has an effect. I'm not really that concerned about my appearance, but what I don't like about the...

Public Service - Great deal on Winter Wader pants

I'm always looking for good deals on pants that work well in winter under breathable waders. Want to be able to walk into Forks Thriftway to buy supplies and not look like I'm wearing fleece pajama bottoms, then pull up to the Hoh or Bogie and don the waders without having to strip to my undies...

NFR float from Marblemount to Howard Miller on Skagit for the Eagles- safe in sit-inside kayak?

Or someone familiar with the river float with him while he tests out the river on his kayak. If there were any issues he'd have a seat and a raft to tether the kayak to.

Canned corned beef hash-expensive dog food?

Agree with Salmo_G - learned to fry potatos and onions from and native guide up in Ontario when dad and I were enjoying shorelunch with fresh fried Walleye on an island on Eagle Lake in Ontario. Canned white potatos and sliced onions. Fry like crazy until the onions are carmelized, add eggs...

    Nextcast Core 30

Just FYI - the Nextcast Core 30 is a longer belly Skagit line. With tips your total casting length is 40-45', which for me is a lot more enjoyable to cast with 14' + rods. I really like the Airflo Rage, but only for polyleaders (it's a Scandi line, not Skagit). It's my summer go to line...

Streamlining my boat options - NRS Slipstream 96??

Agree on the Cataract KBOs - I have the MiniMag blades on mine and have been very happy with them on my framed 10.5' raft. Never heard anyone warning they might break on a framed boat and have had plenty of leverage when I needed to pull hard to avoid a rootwad or other river obstruction. Not...

Fly Tying Expo; Albany, OR. March 8 & 9?

I'll be there wandering around enjoying all the creative tying when I'm not supporting in one of the booths. Never been before, but it sounds like an awesome show!

Ditto what happened to me . . . guessing your 600gr F1 will be back in stock late January per what Simon told me.

Now we wait for WDFW to jump in and claim credit for this wonderful Brook Trout fishery. :D

The Fly Fisher in Olympia Is No More

Mike @ Lost Creek has a great selection of flytying materials. Like Waters West, he's picky about what he stocks. @Stonefish, I remember last time I was there looking at some bucktails in his shop and marvelling at the length and taper of the hair. And Spawn Fly Fish - I've bought a bunch...

    Do you participate? - WDFW/ODFW

Curt, you and Steve were amoung the leaders of an outstanding example of when a group of anglers band together and initiate some positive change in fisheries management. Every time Facebook reminds me of our OccupySkagit protests at Howard Miller I smile.

    Do you participate? - WDFW/ODFW

I've continued to participate since my first experience in Olympia testifying before the Commission in support of mandatory wild Steelhead release statewide back in 2000. I have low expectations that my participation actually moves the needle but will continue because the alternative is to give...
