Why can't they also be blackmouth, even if maturing? Aren't "blackmouth" just indicating the resident life history, versus an age structure? No, i don't have much actual data, but fishing MA 11, I think lots and lots of the fish caught until late July are those same small 4-9 lb blackmouth...

The real problem is that WDFW interprets "monitoring" as requiring physical WDFW personnel at fishing locations, requiring an interview and sometimes some size data.. this simply converts every single anadromous fishing day into a WDFW cost, sometimes even a large cost. Long seasons everywhere...

Seems generally better than last year. More wild coho predicted. Not sure what the limiting stocks will do, they seem better ish generally.

I love watching the fish swim the shorelines there in the spring. One day fishing there my sister, who had only gone fly fishing a couple times, got a 12-15+ lb class fish to our feet before the wind knot she put in her leader chose to part. Still the largest trout I have ever seen hooked up...

Not at all, and I was looking. The locals who lived there told us to keep an eye out for snakes, serious ones were known to be in the area. I appreciated the warning, but it was hard not be somewhat anxious in an unfamiliar environment like the jungle.

Try using a 14-16' leader if you have to go very light, it also absorbs alot of shock. If you can learn to cast and fish it, it's the way to go for technical fish.

When I was small, I remember my family watching that show. Amongst my family, there was a decent sized contingent that wouldn't really recognize the irony/comedy of Archie and AITF, but would see it as some version of a reality show about someone sort of like them.
